I must've tripped the matchmaking algorithm which is now pairing me against much more experienced players with better decks. In the same way when I first started I was getting annihilated by people with better decks for a bit, and then started playing against other new players for a bit. Now I'm never paired against new players even in casual mode, and it's a very rare day when my opponent plays cards like Geralt. Instead they're far more likely to have all of Geels, Caretaker, Caranthir and Woodland Spirit.

Either way it's only making me wish I had more scraps for all those cards I want to craft :(

You should be playing the discard list, I haven't lost a single point of MMR from 2.7k to 3.4k. Coral is just too good and no one is playing basic removal for the ships, they have to use their locks and that leaves Mork/Olgierd free to proc Cerys all day long.

I want to build and try new decks, but the faction that fascinates me is Nilfgaard, which doesn't appear to be very good. So I kind of want to just sit on my scrap until the next rebalance.

This is a fun Nilfgaard combo deck if you like to troll people. Not sure if it's ladder viable in the current meta, but Shackles and D-Bomb are quite rare so you may be able to catch people off-guard with it.

I love Dashgaard: I played around 35% or so of my ranked games with it. Nilfgaard is perfectly viable, you just get punished harder for misplays and it requires more skill to pilot than your average deck. But that challenge is what I like about it. Don't get me wrong, you are certainly putting yourself at a disadvantage (which is why I played monsters more) but it isn't as awful as some make out.

M0gwai is a decent streamer to watch if you're interested in Nilfgaard. He plays the faction religiously and shows how you can play it at a high level. Dude is pretty chill and entertaining to watch as well:

I'll consider it, but I generally don't love such all-in strategies. I guess honestly the thing that is starting to bug me with Gwent is just, honestly, the lack of variance to it. Maybe it's because I've basically only ever played Eredin, but the fact that you can consistently draw out 20+ cards from a 25 card deck just means that you'll get very similar games. So while it's cool that this amplifies player skill, it's starting to get alittle same-y. The game is fun, but it really doesn't scratch the Magic itch, where customization is much more prevalent, given the 60 card deck.

Watching a streamer for gameplay ideas would be tantamount to admitting someone else understands something better than me, which I am unable to do. You understand.

Stop trying to make me craft more cards  I'm already low on scraps again, and there are so many variations that I still want to try.

Also I took Succubus out of my deck, somewhat in frustration. When she's good she's really good, but when she's poor she's really poor as well. Even if I'm given a good target, each time I play Succubus it's still a gamble that my opponent cannot stop her. She would turn your discard list into rubble though!

I'm also a bit mad at the crones simply because of the pressure they put on the mulligan. Anyone played with the alternative ways to thin decks? Frightener + Giant Toad instead, for example? Maybe even Wild Hunt minions with Navigators main.

She's so lucky, she's a star
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night

Well, if he actually groped her, then **** that DJ.

it sounds like he reached under her skirt and grabbed her bum-bum. That's a standard move for a DJ who think they're above it all.

At first I thought it was weird that he was filing suit against Swift for losing his job, but then i saw that this is his second suit against her (the first was slander, which got thrown out), and he got in trouble for destroying video evidence of the thing.

So he sounds like a total jerk-off who is obsessed with her and probably mad that he not only got rejected, but lost his job over it.

GOOD.

Barney, Gwent or GTFO. You've been warned.

@banedon, If I expect Succubus, then I'm saving Gremist and using Bloodcurdling Roar. Not a perfect solution but it does mitigate the card's power somewhat. She's really high-risk high-reward and not as consistent as I would like if I were to play Monsters.

The worst is that her long delay. I get that you can sort of play around that with moving effects, she needs to come down late and still trigger. Plus, they basically need a single huge unit, which means it's pretty pointless against things like NR combo.

BTM > Succubus

While BTM requires you to have the lowest point creature (egg/wolf) the pay off isn't on a timer and you haven't used a gold slot. I honestly don't understand people who run Succubus when Mirror is a thing.

That's what I like about Skellige, I have Priestesses to at least make that BTM play a die roll.

They can be pinged off with Biting Frost though, which is a benefit of frost over Fog (kill the lowest thing, leave the biggest thing for targeting with Igni/BTM/Scorch/Mardroeme/etc
