Happy birthday Fel! Buenos....fetos??? I don't know how you guys down there celebrate birthdays but I'm guessing it's somewhere between enjoying Portuguese chicken and overthrowing your government.

For those interested, Gwent open beta starts on Wednesday for PC, Xbox, and PS4. I highly recommend it. I'll also be streaming my keg opening once it goes live for anyone who wants to come hang out and see what it's all about but I'll bump the Stream928 thread at the appropriate time.

Man, the Gwent thing is around the same time as that Phantom Dust game just came out (free as well). It looks like Hand of Fate if I'm not mistaken but i'm not sure.

So many games to play....

Trains are still a thing? We haven't had those since 1984.

Question:

Just recently moved and we've been getting organized and settled in the last few days. We don't have bookshelves at the new place yet but that's coming. Soon. So my idea was to put all my Non-Fiction books up on top cuz the kids won't be interested in most of them. Management books, self help and biographies on top shelf. History, science and geography books on the second from top and then all my fiction on the next three or four shelves. Here's the thing, while unpacking, my girlfriend (who moved in with me) pulls out her Bible and asks me to put it on the box with the other books that's sitting where we will put the shelves.

So, do I allow her to put the Bible with the non-Fiction books or put it along with all of my other fantasy fiction where it belongs?

I'll avoid the discussion on whether the Bible is fiction or not. I will however note that your reasoning for putting the non-fiction at top is that the kids won't be interested in reading it. So I would view it as a question about if you want/expect your kids to read it by themselves.

They'll be able to reach the History, Science and Geography books, but I really don't think they want to read Becoming the Boss, or Life Scripts for Managers and the such.

I thought bibles belonged in a drawer in a nightstand beside the bed in a hotel. Do the Gideons still do that? And why am I just now starting to think of jokes regarding the Gideon's bible and Gideon the planeswalker?

Yeah they still do that, in hotels that allow them to. Several hotels have shied away from having religious texts in their rooms due to "Inclusion" which really just ends up being exclusion. I did stay in a posh hotel on the Beach in Santa Monica, and they had the Buddhist religious texts in their rooms instead of a bible. I was tempted to steal it.

how the fock is it exclusion? You either coexist or you don't.

I'd rather see nothing in that drawer except for a nice Penthouse Forum collection and the room service menu.

But I would be impressed if they had the big three in there (except Scientology), bible, koran and.... torah? I can never remember what the jewish thing is

I would just throw that bible on the fiction shelf and let her find it for herself, got to set ground rules early.

I don't get these comments about Cornell having an amazing voice. Putting his voice in the same catagory as Mr Motha****ing Mercury is blasphemy. Grunge was the soundtrack of my youth so I have a soft spot for him, but seriously his voice wasn't all that.

New Dark Crystal series sounds awesome. Love that movie. Whenever my daughter gets whiney I give her the old "Chamberlain! Stop whimpering!" line.

Not trying to come across as patrician here but speaking as a vocalist, Chris had one of the most amazing voices. Keeping a range like that through the years is not an easy thing and having a voice that practically anyone can identify in a note or two are definitions of "all that".

From what I understand he had a 4-Octave range, which is pretty rare and amazing as it is. Then you add in his smokey voice and I just don't understand how anyone can say anything negative about his vocals.

Because, as some hotel chains see it, if you allow the Bible in your rooms you have to allow other religious texts. Instead of having the end table drawer turn into a book shelf, they just remove all religous texts. So instead of Inclusion, you get Exclusion.

But, it's mutual exclusion, so it's fair. In practice, North America's rights to religious freedom have been pretty one-sided.

It's no wonder there's a war on Christmas! Ha ha ha! Oh, FOX, you're adorable!

It is a very difficult thing to keep through your life especially when you lead a life like his. I'll never forget my elementary school music teacher's amazement in my having a four octave range. I've been able to keep it for the most part but sometimes have issues belting out the highs. Chris though.... his power at that range was a very special thing.
One reason I love to do bluegrass once in a while with other good musicians that let me explore my range in harmonies is that I love doing a deep base and then taking it way up some notches. It is so physically and emotionally cathartic.
