Glimmer of Genius Vs Confirm Suspicions

I was thinking both of these blue instants are somewhat similar in what they do.

Glimmer is more flexible and cheaper, lets you dig deeper but has no direct effect on your opponent.
Confirm costs :u::u: and 1cmc more and can only be dropped when your opponent makes a move and will likely leave you close to tapped out and will have to pay more mana for your draws. This is rewarded with saying no to a spell, and allows you to draw an extra card over glimmer although not immediately.

Is going down a glimmer to run 2x CS reasonable? Share your thoughts.

Disclaimer:applies only to draw-go control
Glimmer is phenomenal and an easy 4 off. The scry effect (digging you 4 cards deeper) is insanely powerfull and very valuable when answers are so specific.
Confirm is really slow and expensive (11 mana total), but a 4 for 1. Without more gearhulks to get easier and cheaper 3 for 1s (what gearhulk generally is), I think 2 suspicions is necessary. Being an hard counter is actually quite valuable. If I could run 4 gearhulks, I would run 0 or 1 CS.
With the existence of pull from Tomorrow, maybe you dont need 2 CS but I'm still testing

They don't do the same thing at all but I will still answer you. Generally I want to cast CS on my opponents turn rather then have to look for answers because it might be too late. Alternatively, you may have the answers are just trying to dig to further to get ahead but then the game is pretty much over at that point. Not trying to say glimmer is bad, its not, but I rather remove a threat with card advantage instead of just digging into my library. My vote was: NO! They don't compete

I don't get this business of cutting Glimmer to make room for other things.

The whole point of Glimmer is to make your deck more consistent, enabling you to dig in the mid game to find your win cons or needed pieces; the less copies you run the less consistent you are. This is especially important in a meta dominated by aggro. You cant afford to wait extra turns for CS to pay off or to get suitable value out of Pull. Glimmer is awesome and you should run all 3 copies.

Confirm is a one for me at the moment. Making room for Censor and other early game options mean space is limited, especially in Esper and Jeskai, meaning something has to give and I like diversity in my win cons.

This. Personally I like keeping 2 CS and cut big Jace, but that is mostly playstyle prefrence

I'm currently running 2 Glimmer 1 Confirm.

Glimmer is awesome, but I didn't want to overload on draw spells seeing how I run 2 Pull.
Confirm is slow and expensive, but ticks two boxes (counterspell and carddraw).

I'm running 3 Glimmer, 1 Pull, and 1 Comfirm. I like that consistency.

I only run 2 glimmer. But these spells don't really directly compete

Im thinking the big question is Glimmer or Illumination, no?
Even in just draw-go, Illumination seems better in 2 color, and maybe glimmer in 3 for manabase.

Even in 2 colors I would rather have Glimmer; scry 2 is very powerful and getting energy is good fodder for Towers and Aether Hubs.

The only time Illumination might be viable is in a tempo deck with 23ish lands, where hitting 4 lands on curve isn't guaranteed.

Otherwise, Glimmer is strictly better.

Glimmer is better than Illumination, but the difference is not huge. You should go for Glimmer most of the time, but Illumination is not awful.

I think saying it's generally better is more accurate :) It clearly is not strictly better.

While I appreciate the semantics argument, it is strictly better outside of decks that have trouble hitting 4 lands.

I dunno, decks with cycling synergies probably prefer the illuminations over glimmer, and if your deck has 0 energy synergies i think it's close between the two

I haven't seen any viable decks with cycling synergies, but, hey, maybe.
