It's a new dawn for Duels. Black is finally playable, Green looks set to get out of its post-KLD slump...so why on earth does Blue still suck so bad?

Yup I said it. Blue sucks. We get a mass of Artifact specific cards that make Blue so good in those decks, that it simply has nothing to offer outside of them other than fancy counterspells and card draw. Let me demonstrate post-AER we got:

1. Metallic Rebuke. A pseudo mana leak? In artifacts. Otherwise it's a worse Calculated Dismissal, a card that sees no play.

2. Trophy Mage. Tutor up your Dynavolt Tower and...erm...Filigree Familiar if you're down on life I guess? We need some solid build-around artifacts for this, and Whir of Invention is only marginally better even with being instant speed. At least it puts our artifact in play (and can fetch Skyboat).

3. Reverse Engineer. Wow, an almost-Ancestral Recall! In artifacts. Notice the pattern yet?

4. Baral's Expertise. Now we're talking, a pseudo-sweeper that can play out a threat afterwards or help us abuse some ETBs. Shame Crush of Tentacles does the sweeper part of this job better for the same cost.

5. Baral, Chief of Compliance. This is basically "BBB, the card" right? Ahem...

This card is the biggest case of blue balls (heh) in AER. Lowers the cost of my sweeper, but dies to it? Pffft. Here's where I'd play my good counterspells with looting, IF I HAD ANY!!!

6. Mechanized Production. Great, an alternative wincon at last! As a mythic...for artifacts...*sigh* NEXT!

7. Bastion Inventor. Oh for **** sake, artifacts, NEXT!

8. Aethertide Whale. You were so, SO close. If only you had flash.

The rest of this trash isn't worth any note (yes that includes your 2 mana proliferate dork...in BLUE!) so that wraps it up. Since Black is good now I needed to rag on something, and since White is still bloated with Red stubbornly refusing to go away in forever, the burden settles on our now dethroned support colour.

I know you're only semi serious but these kind of posts don't make much sense to me haha, it's like saying "R/W got absolutely nothing from Kaladesh Block, all they got was support for vehicles" you did something similar with Black with Vamps back in SOI/EMN despite the deck being top tier.

That's the joke. Meh, I enjoyed doing this anyway.

I think blue makes the worst mono color deck right now. It's either Tutes or artifacts.. and neither of them are particularly scary.

All these cards are meta defining though; especially Aethertide Whale.
