Phew, just managed to achieve rank 40 for the season today on Steam and it was a tough battle out there!

I got to 38 last week but then got on a bad roll and went all the way back to 26. Today I was using Megabeasts big plays Gruul deck and it worked pretty well and got the job done.

I played against a big variety of decks that were all pretty solid, trying think back I can remember the following:

1 x u/w Spirit Fliers - win
1 x u/b/r thopter artifact burn - win
3 x Izzet Mill (2 win, 1 loss)
1 x u/g flash werewolves - loss
1 x RDW goblins - loss
2 x r/b vamp madness - 2 win
1 x 4c PW.dec - loss
1 x Izzet Prowess - loss

Those are the ones I remember but there are lots of good decks and players out there, and I don't think there is too much vehicle decks although copter is the most common card faced

So it works in on Steam? That's good to know.. thanks Darkshock. I'd love to hear some feedback on it.. stuff that doesn't work and changes you'd make.

I think the only change I made was to swap Harnessed Lightning for Galvanic Bombardment but I could go either way on that as Lightning is certainly better in the early turns to get rid of the copters, I just felt overall I liked bombardments increasing damage for later on.

Later on you'll usually have a harnessed lightning AND a fiery impulse in hand (that's been my experience) and I'm just ready to 2-for-1 something for 6 damage. I think the early 3 damage is 100% esssential cuz of Copter, Advocate and other nightmares so I wouldn't go Bombardment, personally.

Man, a slide from 38 to 26 sounds BRUTAL. I would be so disheartened after that. Especially now when we're supposed to know the meta. That kind of stuff can happen in the first few weeks of a new expansion and that's ok since we're feeling out new decks, but if I slide to 26 this week I'd either panic or get depressed

I like having 7 potential T1 burn spells and doing things like playing a 2 drops and leaving 1 mana for burn on T3. I also managed to take out a Bruna with bombardment after suiciding my copter into her first

There is also no other energy source in this deck so I just felt lightning was marginally worse.

The steam meta is all over the place so you can't really build a deck to counter a specific style but if you are not aggro yourself you need to be able to deal with it so you don't die on T4

While it is interesting to read the recaps, is it true that Gen is NOT compiling the XB1 data?

yeah, he said he's going to wait for the expansion to come out, which makes total sense

I appreciate the time you took the compile the list of decks you've faced but the Xbox metagame is just a poor representation of the game as a whole, the match making is horrid compared to steam, and it would be harsh to have people continually resetting their game just to get games in. I get my fix on Steam and honestly cannot be bothered to reset until the patch hits. Perhaps I'll start streaming again.

I'm going to also update the OP Saturday morning since peoples data have been backed up.

If anyone wants to improve on my organization and metagame ideas feel free to copy and paste what I have to create your own post. I will not feel bad!

An excel spreedsheet with a pretty pie graph would add a nice touch!
