I'm building my own world for Pathfinder, and I will be looking to post here for comments, critiques, and ideas. I't is an island world, with 9 "continents" the very large islands. At the center of the world is a triangle of islands surrounding a giant whirlpool that is (said to be) a portal to other planes and where magic preforms very strangely in the region. I have all the maps drawn out, and am currently in the process of naming the continents (names are so hard ) and nations, and I will post them when I get them done. I only have 2 continents named so far.
Northrend
An icy waste at the northern edge of the world, it is inhabited with many frost giants and other monsters who are comfortable in the extreme cold
Gorjeta
Located east of Northrend, Gorjeta is a stark contrast. Volcanoes spew out lava and a harsh heat flows over the land. It is home to FIre giants and other fire monsters, who are in a brutal war with Northrend
Sandarya
Located west of Northrend, Sandarya is the ancient homeland of the elves. Those who go there state that it is like paradise, with lush vegetation and perfect temperatures. Many believe that this environment has made the elves soft and weak, unable to handle the harshness of the outside world, and is the reason behind the isolationism of most elves.
The Triangle
3 strange islands at the center of the world. All efforts to colonize them have failed so far, as they are home to great monsters and strange magic. Magic itself often becomes haywire here, any spell could suddenly have a very different effect then what the caster originally attended. One island is a large dense jungle, one is a scorching desert, and the third is a icy wasteland. Between the three is a massive whirlpool, which is said to be a portal to other worlds if a ship can survive a journey through it
Aron
Located to the west of the Triangle, Aron is the larges island and close to actual continental size. It is said to be both the ancestral home of the worlds humans and the gnolls, and is the stronghold of humanity. Humans are the most populous race in Aron, but most of the other races can be found here as well, something that the gnolls harshly regret. Gnoll raids are a constant threat as they are always attempting to take back what thwy view is their homeland.
The 12 Nations of Ewzilo
The continent of Ewzilo is divided into 12 nations that are constantly at war with each other, trying to gain more territory.
Nemtyvch, the Nation of the Dead (LE): Located at the northwestern tip of Ewzilo, Nemtyvch is a nation crawling with all types of undead. If it rots, you can find it here. Normal citizens struggle almost daily against mindless undead, but unlike other nations intelligent undead are prominent members of society. In may cities they are tolerated, provided that they go through a screening process, while they are the rulers of others.
The Skretir Desert (CN): Located between Fir-nis and Nemtyvch, The Skretir Desert is less of a nation and more of a collection of bandits. It is the only nation to not be actively attempted to be conquered by others, as it has little value. Bandit gangs rove the sands looking for people to raid, but if many who wish to escape the conflicts of the other nations try to carve out a living here
Fir-nis, the Dwarven Nation (LG): Located at the northeastern tip of Ewzilo, Fir-nis is ruled by a nation of fair-but stern dwarves. A mountain chain divides the nation in two, and two factions have become prominent. The east faction prefers to hold their current territory and work on building within their borders, while the western side believes that the nation should advance and take more territory to expand the nation. Although they are only peacefully debating on what to do now, if a resolution is not found, civil war could ensue.
Laparreto, the Nation of Pirates (NE): Located at the southwestern tip of Ewzilo, Laparreto is a nation know for it's supreme shipbuilding, and piracy. Bands of pirates constantly sail out to pillage ships of other nations, sometimes at the behest of a rival nation. While all the pirates crews rival each other, they all listen to the current leading pirate crew: The Darkwind Pirates
Sinha, the Plains Nation (CG): A large stretch of grassland at the northeast edge of the Skretir Desert, the Plains nation is mostly inhabited by catfolk. The smallest nation, Sinha relies heavily on alliances with other nations to help keep it from being overrun.
Kagubat, the Orcish Empire (CE): Kagubat is a small but fierce nation, constantly overstepping it's boundaries in an attempt to conquer more territory. Many half-orcs are born in this region or because of the attempted conquests of the Empire.
The Watenia Region
Located to the east of Ewzilo and below the Triangle Watenia consists of 6 primary islands and a 1 small island chain
Buzo Swampland: An island that as mixed with the ocean to create a floating swamp. Ratfolk, Gripplis, Nagaji, and Vishkanyas can be found here, as well as many dark monsters that hide deep within the fens
Akvar: Although Akvar itself is above the ocean, most of its population and expanse rremains below. It is home to many aquatic dwelling races, such as Merfolk, GIlmen, and Undines. The aquatic races hold the island as a way of interacting with the surface world, and thus the island specializes in trade between the surface and the depths.
Donngothr Region
Adak; Adak is a small jungle island to the south of the region, with holds a large amounts of the ape family. One can find any type of primate here, from the chimpanzee to a Girrilion. The only civilized race that dwells here are Vanaras, small monkyfolk
Lobanon: Although goblins can be found across the entire spread of the world, you will never find more then in Lobanon. Lobanon is almost completely populated by goblinkind, from the tiny normal goblin to the fierce bugbear or the militaristic hobgoblin. Many believe that the dragons originally brought the goblins there so they could have easy hunting while mating at Dragon Isle
Dragon Island: Located west of Lobanon, Dragon Island is the breeding grounds of the dragons. While there, dragons are forbidden from attacking each other except for in duels over mates. Not many who set foot on Dragon isle ever come back alive.
Menande Region
Menande: The large island that the region is named after which homes many of Bermuda's more mystical races, like the Kitsune and the Samsarans. Although temperate in climate, the island seems to have more heavily forested areas then it should. Many whisper of strange things that dwell in them
Memphan: A medium sized island just north of Menande, Memphan is a desert island, where fresh water is scarce. Sphinxes prowl the land, and explorers delve into long forgotten tombs in search of riches. Those who actually attempt to settle the land generally stay close to the coast to avoid the more dangers elements
Droga: A small island to the south-west of Menande, not much is actually on the surface of Droga, but actually below. The island sports a vast system of underground caves, and the worlds Drow, Duegar, and Wayangs are in constant conflict over the tunnels.

Re: [Worldbuilding][PF] Bermuda
Northrend and Bermuda? Seems a little unoriginal to use famous names like that.

Re: [Worldbuilding][PF] Bermuda
Ya, they are unoriginal, but the world is originally based of the Bermuda triangle, and the title of my campaigns, Legends of Bermuda has a nice ring to it. I just think Northrend sounds cool. I actually might have named it that before I even ever saw WoW, but I honestly don't remember.

Re: [Worldbuilding][PF] Bermuda
Northrend isnt from WoW, its from Warcraft III. Duh!
When in doubt, take a word you like and use synonyms and/or similar sounding words and keep swapping things out till you get something you like.
