What an ugly mana cost, probably the most ugly of all time. I do like Phyrexian Mana having a drawback to use but having it be specific to planeswalkers instead of just having a drawback written out for all cards with P mana seems bad.

This card is a mess:

Mana cost itself as Vija said is a mess; gold hybrid a la Jund Hackblade or Returned Pastcaller has already proven to be unappealing, having a new Phyrexian mana hybrid symbol not only makes it looks worse, it also negates the whole point of having the initial ugliness (which was to help make color intense gold cards easier to cast in limited without making them generic).

The mana symbol itself is bad too: like Phyrexian mana was already a bad idea, and this throws in hybrid for the hell of it.

Compleated keyword is interesting since it might open some potential for a "spells players cast cost an additional 1 life" but given the wording, this only works with Planeswalkers, which are the least common type in conventional set (e.g. not WAR).

Which brings me to the biggest offender in my opinion: the Mythic rarity. No Im not saying the actual effects should be rare or lower, but giving a keyword to a card type that only sees conventional print at the rarest rarity seems meaningless. And the whole point of making color intense gold cards easier to cast is to make them easier for one strategy to play in limited without allowing others to 'splash' them in; this is a Mythic that can still be played witlth only two colored mana instead of three.

Oh wow; I also almost forgot a flavor miss here: Planeswalkers cant be phyresicized. That was the whole thing in Scars of Mirrodin with Venser giving up his own spark to purify Karn, who at the time had given up his own spark during Time Spiral shenanigans and had already been tainted.

Code:
[mc](PB)(BG)(2B)(O)[/mc]

These dont exist yet (I mean I dont think anyone expected something like this, at least not in a Kamigawa set).

I asked for it on metaboard, not sure if mods are active in adding stuff like that anymore but hopefully we can get 'em.

pn is the code for Phyrexian mana, so :pu: becomes :pu: and [mc](pu)[/mc] turns into . Phybrid is new and can't be generated yet.

What if we just didn't add it and then nobody ever made a card with this mana symbol. :P

Calling a new plot development a flavor miss is pretty hilarious. Mate, what? Are new developments in the story not allowed?

Yeah, the compleation of a planeswalker was the whole point of Jin-Gitaxias being on Kamigawa. He was studying how immaterial beings (the kami) can manifest physically, in order to learn about and understand the soul. He then applies that learning to compleating a planeswalker without losing the soul (and thus spark).

Oldwalkers couldn't become Phyrexian because they didn't have conventional physical bodies to compleat. The new walkers couldn't because they would lose the spark in the process of dying and reanimating. Phyrexians can't become planeswalkers because they don't normally have souls.

I also think it's likely that compleated will translate onto creatures by removing +1/+1 counters or adding -1/-1 counters (whichever direction they choose to take the next Phyrexian set).

Porcelain Envoy :pw:
Creature — Phyrexian Cleric
Compleated
This enters the battlefield with three +1/+1 counters on it. (It enters with two less if life was paid to cast this spell.)

And to be fair, on the old forums we had Ask Doug, which clarified that the point of Venser's sacrifice was to transfer the immunity he'd gained from Melira, not that any innate quality of the (modern) spark prevented Compleation.

I needed a reason to vent my anger out after acid reflux rudely woke me up, and the mana cost wasn't enough to rip apart. So I definitely jumped to conclusions and assumed WotC had no idea how to handle their own lore despite doing so for decades now.
