That's... Unique.

Makes for a real awkward mana base. This is one land you prefer to draw midgame.

I have to imagine that the pitch for this card was just "I just realized we can create the greatest pun Magic has ever seen!"

Anyway, this will almost certainly see Commander play, because almost every deck has a good mana rock to replace it with when it goes away. I don't play modern, so I don't know how good it will be there, but from what I understand people like to play Amulet of Vigor, so they might run this just for that purpose. The only mana rocks this can get in Modern all rely on you having creatures Mox Amber, Springleaf Drum, and Paradise Mantle, so I guess that could limit which decks want to play this.

Well, true. I do like effective use of wacky subtypes.

This card is peak Modern Horizons. I love it.

- Same name as a set.
- Name and subtypes are the same.
- First enchantment land.
- Having a land that's also a Saga is just super weird.

I also like the fact that Urza's Saga was an enchantment-themed set known for its powerful artifacts, while this card is an enchantment land that only cares about artifacts.

Yeah, this is probably going to be a commander staple. make mana and/or beaters and then turn into your Sol Ring. Notably you should be able to float mana or make a dude in response to III firing so you get to double-dip on that turn.

This is so resoundingly and amazingly YMTC, and yet it's real. Amazing.

Unpopular opinion: The artwork is terrible.

I don't care how clever they think it is, if it makes the card ugly to look at, it's bad. Titus Lunter is an amazing artist, but why would you hire him for a piece that's supposed to look like someone who wasn't an artist drew it? Besides, I'm not an expert on illustrating manuscripts or anything, but something about the style and materials used here make this look way too "modern" at first glance to be something an archmage from Dominaria drew (the top layer was supposedly Barrin's doing, according to the art description).

And let's be completely honest, the idea that the writing on the first layer is supposed to be The Antiquities War (in Kayla's own handwriting, mind you) neither adds anything to the artwork nor does it make a lot of sense. The script is barely visible if you look at a blown up version of the art, let alone at card size, and there is no way of knowing it's supposed to be Kayla's poem by looking at it. And why would it be in Kayla's handwriting anyway? If Urza really had come by his wife's original manuscript somehow, why on earth would he erase it and overwrite it with random calculations? Has anyone thought this through at all? And according to Taysir, the poem was written in high Argivian pictoglyphs. It's not quite clear what that means or what those are supposed to look like, but you'd expect them to look a bit more interesting than just normal handwriting. Sure, it could just be an early draft that was simply written in ordinary old Argivian or something, but the more you actually know and think about it, the less resonant the first layer of the artwork becomes, which probably wasn't the intention.

This is the worst card design I've seen in years.

Oh also so everyone sees it, that is a card whose mana cost is or . Not mana value 0 or 1 so no Lotus Blooms or Artifact Land or Vorpal Blades or what have you
