I am angry at the customer-base who asked for this.

I think it's hilarious, but the price point is upsetting.

That is why I am upset. This was a funny joke until WotC tried to make money off of it and now it is just painful....especially at that price tag.

I'm of a similar mind. I'll just copy what I said somewhere else.

I've seen people meme about this with similar images several times already that wotc basically just copy pasting it and selling it as a secret lair feels kind of scummy to me, especially since it costs just as much as the strixhaven showcase one which is 6 cards that required actual art commissions. (Which also costs as much as 3 shocklands, naturally.)

I'm saddened by this.

Yeah. The full text lands are a funny gimmick, but they're kind of insulting at the Secret Lair price point. These seem like the sort of thing that should have been a variant in Unstable/Unsanctioned or thrown in with different secret lair packs as a cheeky bonus (like the stained glass PWs or the extra Seb Swamp I got with the Seb pack), not something that could headline its own Secret Lair. I think the right comparison is with the Shocks. For the same price you can get five full-texts, or three shocks with new art that had to be commissioned for them. The shocks seem like honestly a decent deal (though I don't want to be too tempted) because shocklands are valuable cards, but let's talk about the last time they did basics: The Godzilla Lands. The Godzilla Lands were not great when it came to value, but at least it didn't feel like an insult to have them on offer because, hey, they were new art and required a license that meant there wasn't going to be another time you could reasonably see them, unlike the full-texts that would be at home in any silver border set for a laugh, I say again. Still, the Godzilla Lands were up until this probably the low bar of Secret Layer and Wizards still managed to limbo under that. But then, with D&D and possibly Warhammer sets on the horizon, I'm honestly not surprised a way was found.

No the low bar of secret lair is definitely Walking Dead, unless we are talking exclusively about the value of the purchase.

While i agree the price point is awful (in fact all basic land bundles that cost like any real amount are automatically the worst Secret Lairs in my opinions) but I think calling it scummy for being similar to the fan products is kinda...odd? Like they're similar because they're both just rules for lands. I don't like being the one to defend the large company, but what was WotC supposed to do once parts of the fanbase (who I highly disagree with on how funny this joke is tbh) showed that they'd like and buy full text lands? Make up new rules for basic land types and playing lands?

Anson Maddocks in the mid 90's is attributed to say "If art isn't important, try putting the rules on a tshirt".

Man was he wrong. **** hell.

Yeah I absolutely love that these exist. Not gonna buy them but it does no harm that they exist. Yeah the price makes them feel a bit scummy but then just don't buy them, there are plenty of beautiful lands you can get for pennies.
