Before previews for Zendikar Rising officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come. Note that I’m only giving you partial information.

First up, here are some things you can expect:

• A red/white creature with a line of rules text that starts with “Whenever” and ends with “draw a card”
Akiri, Fearless Voyager

• A card with three different activated abilities that all copy something
Lithoform Engine

Unless it's a cheap Changeling tease, five creature types seems overkill. I suspect it represents, in part, a return of Ally, though.

Here are my thoughts after reading some speculation and having some discussion.

Given that Nahiri hints at class tribal, I'm wondering if there will be a new batching for five class types. And then somehow that could get used to give a creature five creature types. However, there was also a leak of DFC lands, so they could just have five creature types across two sides. That would be a disappointing way to fulfill the clue, though.

There's a great theory that the four mana symbols will be and that they'll appear on a new 4-color Omnath (which we've seen art of). This seems likely to me.

"Lands that come with a choice you've never had before" seems to confirm the leak of a DFC dual land where each side taps for one color and you pick a side as it enters. (Also it enters untapped.)

The horrors are likely results of Eldrazi corruption, like Yarok, the Desecrated.

Shapeshifter Rogue, Demon Cleric, and Angel Wizard all support the class tribal theory.

And finally, I'm just personally excited to see what the Leviathan Crab is!

I really like mown's guess that 3 creatures with 5 types is actually just one card that makes 3 creatures that have a total of 5 types among them. Remember maro is tricky

I do actually think the clue is three different creatures that each have 5 creature types, I just hated the idea of it so I intentionally misinterpret it.

I agree with that assessment, the only reason I'm still in denial is because I think everything about that alleged spoiler involves some very questionable design decision, not that I give current wotc a lot of credit. The DFC lands are not only strictly better basics as worded, they're also just incredibly annoying to play with. And all the cards that supposedly can be played as basic lands on the backside would just work a lot better making land tokens instead of having a bunch of card you have to unsleeve and flip and they all turn into the same 5 different variations, without talking about the supposed blue instant speed nature's lore with a force spike stapled on top of it.

Alright Aggro-ish (she negates your damage but still wants you to be laying it and isn’t redundant with lifelink so yeah) Felidar Sovereign-esque creature. Honestly probably hard to figure out the details for but easy to guess the general idea. I kind wish she replaced damage so she’d be a bit easier to use as a political tool in commander like “Hey I see you low in health. Help me out and I’ll swing my beater at you so you gain health”

Feed the Swarm seems good, but Sorcery is usually pretty ehhhh
