So, Mutate is basically the core mechanic of the defunct WotC TCG Hecatomb. It doesn't sum the power and toughness, but it does otherwise have a lot of similarities.

It was a ton of fun I thought, though. My best deck was probably Aztecal tribal aggro that just focused on rushing the game end with global soul generation. My biggest regret is that if we had gotten another set there would have been a Yawgmoth god card.

I still have my collection, and always think about going back. There are a lot of decks, and I could build more, and in the end I could have a fixed run of "precons" to bust out and play against each other. My biggest issues would be acquiring the last couple singles to make things "perfect" and building storage because those pentagonal cards are nightmares.

A couple years ago, I reached out to an artist in hopes of finding a large version of one of his arts for Hecatomb and he actually responded like a month later saying he didn't have any copies anymore.
