I'm actually impressed by how disinterested I am in this set.
Still absolutely adore those lands though.

There is already some infinite combo shenanigans with Siona and Shielded by Faith; might be my goto deck for Pioneer actually.

Inevitable End is very YMTC. I even designed it, identical save for the name, last year in the "you make the booster pack" game

Underworld Dreams is fun to see back, and at uncommon

What the heck is Elspeth stabbing in Triumphant Surge? This bugs me.

There's a power 4 or greater theme I think is setting up for the kaiju plane that was announced.

Hate that they brought back gold rather than standardizing on treasure.

The art of Loathsome Chimera is good for me, reminds me of some interpretations of wendigo.

Mirror Shield HAD ONE JOB, and that was to fit in a Legend of Zelda themed deck. Instead it went with the "kill gorgon with its reflection" trope. Which is off since looking at a mirror was the way to safely fight Medusa, but whatever, nethack did it before WotC so they can't get all the blame. At least it grants Hexproof, I guess that'll keep Twinrova off your back.

I give this one a firm "Attending prerelease and nothing else", which is about as low as sets go for me.

Shielded by Faith isn’t pioneer legal. It isn’t even modern legal. Its only printings were in fixed content products (commander deck, Gideon spellbook, and the explorers of ixalan game) - none of which ever introduced it to the modern or pioneer card pool.

Well, bummer. Kinda annoying that it's not actually from Ixalan but box toppers like Nexus of Fate and Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge are perfectly legal where not banned despite having a lower frequency of appearing. Still, seems like a fun casual deck idea; just need to figure out a decent manabase since my playgroup tends towards mono-color aggro for casual.

"Starfish are its favorite prey"? It's boring but doesn't seem aggressively bad to me unless there is some attempt at a deeper meaning that I'm missing?

Preferred Pronoun Set: he/him
Triumphant Surge: Maybe it is an phyrexian nightmare? I feel like I have seen that stupid mouth somewhere before but I can't find it.

Mirror Shield: Especially weird because at least 3 gorgons on Theros have abilities to kill non-gorgan creatures. I guess trying to prevent the equipped creature from being killed by deathtouch was too complicated.

Stinging Lionfish: The starfish is presumable a reference to Sigiled Starfish which this can tap down and then attack past? Or they can team up and let you scry more? Neither of those really says "prey". Maybe there was going to be a starfish reprint or something but they made this instead in that slot, thus it would be responsible for the "extinction" of starfish in the set, but that seems like too much of an inside joke.

It's just letting us know about the dangers of lionfish overpopulation that is occurring at the moment in the Atlantic Ocean.
