Eldrazi are why Zendikar's vampires exist. There is no connection to Innistradi vamps, or the Sengirs, or so on.

Yes, but Eldrazi have supposedly been around for eons and eons, and Ugin thinks they have an unknown role in an as-yet unseen transplanar (interplanar? extraplanar?) ecology. What if the Eldrazi seeded vampires on many worlds and were making their way back towards the center of the multiverse, checking up on their creations? And lo and behold, the worlds where there were no vampires got destroyed, devoured as punishment for destroying their creations! Or something to that effect.

Sure, ok, lore-wise Sorin is the first vampire of Innistrad, turned into one unwillingly by his uncle (IIRC). But how? What ritual was used? Were the Eldrazi somehow tapped into by a mortal on Innistrad to make Sorin the first vampire there? We don't know because they haven't elaborated on the backstory. And there's never really any explanation for why vampires exist on other worlds, they just do. And they can turn others into vampires. *gasp!* Like Emrakul is turning stuff into Eldrazi on Innistrad!!! :o

So Sorin's uncle was NOT from Innistrad.... or was not a vampire?

Neither. He was a guy from Innistrad who made a deal with a demon to get immortality and made a potion that turned people into vampires as a result.....which he tested on Sorin first.

lgosvse asked: Ulrich uses the sun/crescent moon transformation symbols, but all other DFCs in EMN that have been spoiled so far use the full moon/eldrazi transformation symbols. Is there any reason for the disconnect there?

All the Eldritch Moon double-faced cards, save Ulrich, represent mutation as a result of Emrakul. As such, we felt “sun” and “moon” wasn’t the right symbols.

With the advent of Harmless Offering, is anyone else looking forward to the possible reprint of Bronze Bombshell in the perfect setting of Kaladesh?

If we get a Bronze Bombshell reprint, I expect it to be a functional reprint only. Maybe less damage.

So unless I miscounted there are 41 spoiled rare single faced cards just like oath of the gatewatch, 1 rare missing and no green rare double faced card.
So last rare should be an eldrazified werewolf.

Probably the one that appears in the trailer.

Maro! Say it isn't so! People are saying at blogatog live you declared no contraptions on kaladesh! If we can't find how to do it in a steampunk world I don't know if I'll ever get to see them :(

There was something that was a perfect fit, a mechanic I’ve been trying to find a home for many years. Because of that, there wasn’t the right mechanical space to also fit in contraptions.

I promise I will one day find a home for contraptions. It just wasn’t in Kaladesh block.

...Not sure where else to ask this, but two of the spoiler threads just got locked. I'm curious why as I don't see an obvious reason.

Maybe this will be the block where we get contraptions...

EDIT: ninja'd so far in advance we'll just chalk it up to overeagerness.

So regeneration got replaced by "gains indestructible until end of turn." This is one of the changes I have been waiting for years.

Feh. I hope regen still shows up in side-products. We've known for a while that it was out but I'm not a fan of the replacement.

Too soon to be thinking about Aether Revolt? I predict Vehicles and energy counters return, fabricate doesn’t, and we get a mechanic returning from another block (Proliferate? Graft? Populate?) and one all-new mechanic (probably having to do with instants or sorceries).

Another out-there prediction: Amonkhet block will feature -1/-1 counters. We're due (really overdue) for -1/-1 counters.

I hope you're right. I for one have generally loved the blocks featuring them since the Counter Split (Shadowmoor and Scars)
