The lack of a one-drop werewolf is kinda disappointing, but maybe we'll get one next set.

Regardless, I'm very much looking forward to playing with these cards. The day/night stuff looks like a blast in limited, Tovolar fixes a lot of my werewolf commander deck's problems, and the flavor of decayed (slowly building a horde of zombies and then attacking with them all at once) is fantastic.

I'm also very curious to see how they'll iterate on these themes (or not) in Crimson Vow, but I'll try not to get ahead of myself.

Honestly don't see much of anything that piques my interest. I'm honestly just very over Innistrad at this point. Maybe Crimson Vow will have something, but I kind of doubt it.

Falcon Abomination has some interesting art. I'm not sure where the token comes from unless it just scoops it up from a nearby town and flies onto the field with it.

Flavortext on Geistwave is kind of cool. The whole town used to be suspicious of that weird woman and the strange noises that came from her basement, but now they know she is just making death rays powered by human souls and she is the most respected person in town.

The token is the other half of each. The falcon headed falconer in the art

oh that's cool. I didn't see the falcon head, I thought it was some rando with a hat.

Ya, I had to zoom to make out the head. Saw falconer glove and figured that might be something related to the token

Oh my god, I thought that was just a normal human being terrorized by the flying skaab. Seeing that he has a bird head makes a lot more sense.

I feel like the intended perspective doesn't come across well. I now realize it's supposed to be a falconer in the background with a normal-sized falcon in the foreground, but it just looks like a giant falcon thing flying straight at a person. Those two planes aren't distinguishable enough for me.

Haha! It does look like a giant bird is attacking a person. Artist prob should have flipped the bird horizontally and had a foot cover part of flapping jacket to add perspective on depth of piece.

Conceptually I think the card is pretty cool tho

Purifying Dragon being uncommon is kind of noteworthy but I guess it's not really anymore. Even outside of 'Dragon sets', M21, iKoria, and Eldraine each had one. I kind of gloss over core sets and the other 2 were small and blue. Either way, I like this uncommon firebreathing dragon.

Sunstreak Phoenix is interesting because it cares about day or night when it isn't in play. If you mill it you need to play another day/night card before you can get it back.

Eccentric Farmer - Peasant creatures continue to be awesome.

Howl of the Hunt - Auras with small tribal benefits are super cool.

When I saw a card names Storm the Festival I assumed it was some story event that happened once, but it has flashback. I guess the people here don't have much of a chice so they just go back to partying.

It seems strange to see investigate on like 5 cards but I guess they didn't want a ton of card draw. Especially when there are so many thing that are like "look at 5 cards, keep 1, send the other to the graveyard"

It looks like Delver of Secrets is a moth now instead of a fly. The moon is talking to him now instead of just generic mad scientist reasons.

Mysterious Tome mentions a "winter of eternal night". I know we just had snow stuff but that sounds like it could be a fun set in the future, unless the gatewatch stop that form happening I guess.

I'm guessing Augur of Autumn is in the same magic circles as the warlocks, she's just called a druid because she is doing things with lands. (I haven't read the lore yet) Whatever, this isn't the place for a rant about there being too many vague creature types.

It bothers me that Jack-o'-lantern doesn't throw for damage. More than it should really.

New Ludevic is pretty cool, much better than his old card (not that being better than his old card was hard). The fact that he can become a 5/5+ any creature in your deck while still being your commander seems like it should be open for goofiness, though I do have the sneaking suspicion on that score that anything he does Scarab God does better, short of MAYBE Invisible Stalker. I wish it got more than counters from going for multiple creatures, like maybe you could mix and match abilities. Still, having the old man stitch himself into one last, glorious abomination that the player can shape? That's pretty cool.

I really love Hostile Hostel. The phasing dodge is just extra beautiful lunacy and the stats are perfect for something with that kind of ability

Most of the rest was pretty meh, but there isn't much I aggressively dislike either. I was really concerned that Innistrad was going to self-destruct, but at worst it's just a bit tired.

Or, same party and flashback is just the stormers who were fashionably late :V

A lot of the stats in this set seem pretty pushed. Whole lot of cards have a couple points of power or toughness more than I'd expect.
