So, how about something different? I'll post here the packs as they came to me today, and you can all try your hand at drafting them. Then we can compare our pack one efforts, and go on with pack two, or just look at the rest of the packs and where I finished up. Spoiler Blood-Chin Rager Blood-Chin Rager Atarka Pummeler Hand of Silumgar Sandcrafter Mage Enduring Victory Misthoof Kirin Dromoka Warrior Sandstorm Charger Ancestral Statue Mind Rot Gate Smasher Duress Keeper of the Lens Island Wow, this was sweet. Black dried up, but we only passed one Vulturous Aven and not much else so it should be fine in pack two. I would try to stay on course and hope we get a bunch of Sandsteppe Outcast and Harsh Sustenance in pack three.

Note, I have 0 experience drafting this. I picked stuff with DLCR notes in mind. Spoiler Misthoof Kirin Center Soul Sidisi's Faithful Ojutai Interceptor Sandcrafter Mage Enduring Victory Misthoof Kirin Gurmag Drowner Sandstorm Charger Taigam's Strike Ojutai's Breath Gate Smasher Duress Keeper of the Lens Island A little mishap where I took Ojutai's Breath on p3 but it was still around p11, so I swapped off Ojutai in 3 for Sidis's Faithful and got Ojutai's Breath for 11. Wasn't sure what else I could do about it.

Oh, things got messy. Spoiler Hated pack 1, but Vulturous Aven was my pick of a bad lot. Pack 2 made me wish I had taken Rager in P1, but didn't draft with future sight. Took Coat with Venom. Pack 3 - I didn't want to go to Mind Rot, so it's 'move into my second color' time. Was tossup between Summit Prowler and Dragon Hunter - chose the former. Will regret that... 4: Shieldhide Dragon available this late is a sign white is wide open; take the dragon and regret the passed Hunter last pack. 5: Sandcrafter Mage. Moving into white looking better. 6: Dragon Hunter 7: Misthoof Kirin 8: Acid-Spewer Dragon 9: Sandstorm Charger 10: Student of Ojutai 11: Territorial Roc 12: uh, Gate Smasher, I guess 13: Wandering Tombshell 14: Keeper of the Lens Other than the misstep at Summit Prowler, have the creature makings of a decent WB deck. Just hoping pack 2 delivers me the removal support that pairing really needs.

[Kirin, but I think that's because I just drafted 2 UB decks in a row P2 - sprinting warbrute P3 - atarka pummeler P4 - shieldhide dragon P5 - Sandcrafter Mage P6 - Enduring Victory P7 - Misthoof Kirin P8 - Beastbreaker and this deck would be great if I took Elkherds P9 - Sandstorm Charger P10 - Ojutai Monument P11 - Ojutai's Breath P12 - FTS or plains P13 - Tombshell P14 - Lens So far I like my picks compared to the 3 above, but they are still not optimal.

This is what I did online: my picks Vulturous Aven This was one of the worst p1p1 in recent memory. Rager, Aven, and Kirin are all good, solid second picks, but for pick one, you hope for something more. I took the Aven over Rager, mostly because I like UB better than BW. Kirin seemed weaker than those two. Blood-Chin Rager This was another pick where I almost went to time. In the end, I decided to stay on color. As I said, Rager is a solid pick, but I could definitely see picking either the Behemoth or the Warbrute. Coat is a great card, but I finally took to heart the advice of the pros: curving out is great. And you need two and three drops to do that. Atarka Pummeler Hand of Silumgar This is where Shazzeh and I went for the early on-color Warrior, and most of you went for the Dragon. I see this as the pick that determined the rest of my draft. Dromoka Warrior This is where the warrior plan started to look really good. I took this over Sandcrafter for the synergy, even though Sandcrafter is the stronger card. Dragon Hunter Victory will come from attacking, not Enduring Misthoof Kirin Dromoka Warrior Sandstorm Charger Ancestral Statue Student is a real consideration here, but I just didn't have the spells, and a Statue almost always makes the deck. Territorial Roc Foul-Tongue Shriek Going for aggro! Duress Keeper of the Lens Island A solid start. Need some spells, but the creature base is looking great. Made me regret my first pick, but that's drafting.

Pack 1: Spoiler Vulturous Aven - Not sure how good Reincarnation is...Blood Chin is ok, but Vulture is good Coat with Venom Atarka Pummeler - eh, nothing really here, Hunter may be ok, but I think Pummeler has better end game. Hand of Silumgar - or Loremaster...but I think I want Hand right now. Gurmag Drowner - or Loremaster, but exploit is looking open Gate Smasher - Either that or Carp, but a lot of exploiters are x/4 so why not. Qarsi Sadist - Anticipate and Summons look good, but I want early exploit fodder...⅓ is good vs morph too. Gurmag Drowner - Dragon looks good, but not right now I think Blessed Reincarnation - sure...might pair well with exploit. Other choice is net or meditation. Net may be good with Smasher but mah, Meditation is probably the right call, but lets get weird with it. Ojutai Monument - Just in case, Strike and Statue are the other options, but we’ll see them again. Ojutai's Breath Gate Smasher Wandering Tombshell Keeper of the Lens Island Looking over everyone elses picks its clear I need to start paying attention to signals lol. I also missed the Warrior theme since I wasnt looking for it. pack 2 Ojutai Exemplars Self-Inflicted Wound and wow is this pack terrible. Vulturous Aven Great Teacher's Decree Defeat Sibsig Icebreakers. We're getting cut, but I doubt we're switching colors. Herald of Dromoka over the superior two-drop, I think, because we already have a ton of one-toughness creatures and that's bad in this format. Glaring Aegis Gravepurge Pinion Feast Dragonloft Idol Glaring Aegis Resupply Magmatic Chasm Swamp A bit low on playables, but white being open in pack 3 should be nice.

Yeah, Aven/Kirin first pick is still better than my Sandcrafter Mage/Ojutai's Summons decision. At least you are only abandoning an Aven... yesterday I P1P1 Dromoka's Command only to play UB. I am going to put 2 picks if they are different between us: Spoiler P1 Well Ojutai's exemplars' obviously. What a pack. P2 And then there's this nonsense. My deck has a couple green cards so Elk Herd, but yours... I dunno. Commune with Lava? I can't bear to take Aegis here. P3 Beastbreaker for me, Charger for you. Looks like Red is not open at all. P4 This might be the hardest pick. Tail Slash probably. My deck is not 100% G so I'll take slash and maybe splash it. P5 Another slash and I obviously don't understand signals. P6 Glade Watcher/Stormwing Dragon P7 Not sure how many 2 drops you have, but I like Tactician a little more than warrior. Warrior would be fine though. P8 Yearling is pretty solid for GW, Tormenting Voice is fine. P9 Tormenting Voice / Strider P10 Pinion Feast I guess Commune (again?) What did you take? Ojutai Exemplars Glaring Aegis Vulturous Aven Great Teacher's Decree Defeat Sibsig Icebreakers Hand of Silumgar Reckless Imp Conifer Strider Commune with Lava Territorial Roc Glaring Aegis Magmatic Chasm Magmatic Chasm Swamp[/spoiler] Pretty close with Shazzeh, the only meaningful difference being me taking Hand over Herald of Dromoka pick seven. Herald is probably better, since I'm building aggro, and deathtouch is not so important on a guy that dies to any blocker anyway. Anyway, we've diverged from my picks, so I'll just post the final deck: Got two good spells from FRF, and a thing that I cut out of the picture by mistake: Silumgar, the Drifting Death. I decided to splash it, just for laughs, off two duals. And sometimes the rush doesn't work out, any just imagine the surprise when the big bad finisher hits. I went 2-1, lost a game three after keeping a two-lander and never seeing a third land, dying on turn ten with seven cards in hand, including a lethal Harsh Sustenance. Won the other two, not really close. My favourite was returning an Aegis with the Statue and replaying it on the Kirin, tapping their only flier and swining for lethal.

This was a really fun exercise! I enjoyed drafting these 1st 2 packs and would like to draft the 3rd so i can build my fake deck and compare with the rest of you guys. PACK 1 Spoiler P1 Vulturous Aven P2 Stampeding Elkheard P3 Stampeding Elkheard P4 Hand Of Silumgar p5 Collusodon yearling p6 Enduring Victory p7 Atarka Beastbreaker p8 Atarka Beastbreaker p9 Sandstorm Charger p10 Ancestral Statue p11 Territorial Roc p12 Revealing wind p13 wandering tombshell p14 Keeper of the lens PACK 2 Spoiler P1 Ojutai Exemplars p2 Stampeding Elkheard p3 Enduring Scalelord p4 Great teachers Decree p5 Pinion Feast p6 Gladewatcher p7 dragon-scarred bear p8 collusodon yearling p9 conifer strider p10 naturalize p11 territorial roc p12 glaring aegis p13 magmatic chasm p14 magmatic chasm I got about 15 decent playables didn't see any Epic's or Pacifism might have to lean hard on great teachers decree to finish, which looks strong but ironically is a card I've never played. but my creature spell split going into pack 3 is 13/2 so seems appropriate So I'm hoping for a Whisper of the wilds, Hunt the weak, sandblast, Silk Wrap , sandsteppe outcast, probably one Return the Earth mainboard and of course Citadel Siege, but would take Dromoka Dragon This was fun you should do this again. Now that i've went back and looked, I'm surprised to see i was the only Green drafter in the thread. I went black but abandoned after the p5 enduring victory. I feel like i drafted my seat correctly when the late P7 and P8 beastbreakers came around. With triple Elkheard, 2 Beastbreakers, and 1 Dragon-Scarred bear, Having 6 of the top 4 commons creatures in green from Dragons. It felt like the color to be drafting at our seat.

I drafted green too, but I got started late. 3x elkherd is a beating, and there may have been a few hunt the weaks (we know there was a stance) in pack 3. Dragon-Scarred Bear is just a guy though.

What Green did you take? it looked like you were B/W Warriors And Dragon-Scarred Bear is more than a so-called guy. he wins 1st prize for having a sweet name, and i put him higher up than just a guy Filler. but that's one mans evaluation but yes Hell yeah a Stance is just what the deck needed, i predict 0-1 cause i lose to all 5 drops in my hand. oh well try again
