Rules:
-Signups will be held until we have 8 participants.
-Do not sign up unless you visit NGA on a daily basis.
-The format is DDF.
-Each participant will open a real life pack, or use a random pack generator (which I will link) to create a pack.
-Each player will take a card from the pack, and PM a list of the remaining cards to the next player.
-Repeat until the pack is empty. If you have multiple "packs" waiting in your unread messages, do your picks IN ORDER (oldest pack first).
-Check that you are sending the proper number of cards before you send a pack.
-Don't post in this thread that you made picks or sent packs, that's not necessary and it clutters the thread. Only post if someone passed you a pack with the wrong number of cards, sent a pack the wrong direction, or some other screwup.
-Matches will be played through cockatrice

So, who's in?

I'm game for draft, but not for cockatrice. So, if you get eight people that actually plan to play the matches, I won't draft.

Same. That's why I've been silent. I'd like to participate in these sorts of draft things for the sake of the discussion afterwards of the interesting decision points that arose during the draft - but I haven't the predictable blocks of free time nor really the inclination to actually play on Cockatrice.

If the goal is to draft in sequester, silently build, play, and not talk about your draft, can't people use MTGO for that (when DTK is available)? Or an FNM draft?

Isn't the main benefit of a discussion forum supposed to be discussion?

Sure, you can draft without playing on cockatrice. That still leaves us with an even number of people, so everyone who wants to can play matches.

As for your points, mark, the idea behind the matches is precisely to aid with discussion. It's often hard to evaluate a draft deck without actually playing it. Sure, sometimes a deck is obviously strong, but every deck has strengths and weaknesses that aren't immediately apparent until you test it with actual gameplay. Gameplay will help us evaluate our decks, and by extension, the decisions we made in drafting them, so that we can discuss them here.

I'm in the "interested in doing the draft, but don't want to play" camp.

I'd rather not have an odd number of non-players, because that would entail someone having to sit out and not play a match, so I'll leave this open til monday for other volunteers.

With (seemingly) 5 Cockatrice players, you could just run an informal roundrobin between you five (with each pair of players scheduling their match as convenient between them), no need to do a swiss draw.

Well, I rather not play too, so now you have your even number of players.

Ok, we're starting. I got the player list up in the OP. Pass to the person below you for the first and third packs, and above you for the second pack. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Can you link the random pack generator we should use? That way we stay consistent.

My recommendation is drafts.in, although you have to type the cards in.

I would also STRONGLY RECOMMEND you put your ALL of your packs/picks into a google doc or excel sheet (1 column per pack)

This is surprisingly easy to screw up, and not sorting through horrible PM system is a gift, I promise you.

Use drafts.in. Make a draft, hit start, write down all the cards before it passes the pack to a bot.

You could also start a Sealed pool with a DTK pack and 5 packs of another Set. Gives you more time to write things down.

That works too.

You can also turn off the time on drafts.in.
