The Thoughts:
BW, GR, RW, UG, and UB are what I consider the "strongest" decks in Theros, and obviously fit into Gatecrash. I thought by going 3 packs Theros and 3 packs Gatecrash I'd have the opportunity to play a decent Orzhov, Boros, or Gruul deck, or could have some curve-fillers for a nice Simic deck. Plus getting the guildgates would make it easier to splash, and Gatecrash has decent removal.

2-0 vs. Selesnya (All Theros)
I heard great things about this deck throughout the day: he had Elspeth, Hundred Handed One, Arbor Colossus, Polukranos, the World Eater, and some other playables like Divine Verdict. His strategy was to play Guardian of Meletis and Yoked Ox to give him time to play those bombs... but my deck was able to prowl around him before he could get any of his engines going. Pretty handily went 2-0, I was surprised when he got 4th.
2-0 vs Azorius (All Return to Ravnica)
Tempo and detain slowed my game, but it didn't stop my big threats. I think I maybe lost 7 hit points across both games. The player's really good and in my play group, ended up tying for 7th, but it's really hard to beat a battle centaur with mad cap skills, ya know?
2-0 vs. Orzhov (All Theros)
Turn 2 Satyr into Turn 3 Mad Cap both games, and then he couldn't play a big enough creature to stop my threats. He had 7 hard removal spells though, so it turned into a top decking war that ended when I bloodrushed a slaughter horn onto a nessian asp then cast a 7/7 ooze.
2-1 vs. Dimir (3/3 Gatecrash and Theros)
Tons of removal, and I kept a questionable hand game 1. Game two I played a sable into a mad cap into a ghor-clan, and was able to bloodrush him down to 6 by turn 5. It was inevitable from there. Game 3 I curved out and brought the beats, and I think lucked out because he was flooded out. Another member of my play group, so between him, me, our other friend who went 4-0, and the guy I beat round 2, we represented half of the top 8. Also got a dope new playmat
Went on to play the hydra, and beat it with three heads starting, then with five. I can see how it'd be fun in a casual group setting, but it's not a match for well-tooled, creature-based decks.
