Not a hugely overwhelming pack - this is interesting.

I'd consider a few cards here:
Caryatid - a ramping fixing 3 toughness guy who can't be hit by Lightning Strike is pretty good.
Naiad - Wind Drakes are cool, and this guy is a bit better! Also the only blue card in the pack, and while it's not relevant this early, it's still something to think about.
Lash - Removal is what it is

Some other solid things. I think I'll say Sylvan Caryatid because it's generally good. I could go a number of ways though. Even Crusader.

Oh and I don't think you should vote NJ. Not because of any conflict reasons (it doesn't really matter after all) but because these occasionally stall and require a tiebreaker. But hell, it's your thread, do what you want.

I vote for the Sylvan Caryatid. The removal, Crusader and Wind Drake are tempting, but I like the flexibility of the Caryatid. Also, I've drafted Theros twice and both times played blue because no one else was. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Naiad wheel.

Sylvan Caryatid. It fits into every green/x draft strategy for Theros.

Question for the future, if we go green/x, how highly do we value the Voyaging Satyrs?

BCS (Best Case Scenario) you get the Caryatid out on T2 and can play a 4-drop on T3 and can activate monstrous a turn earlier. That's great, sure. But the Naiad is an amazing bestow target and an amazing evasion enabler that is relevant every turn of the game after T2. You just can't pass that up.

I am sort of done with green in this format, but not because it's bad... but it can be quite difficult to play. I have played GU (sealed) GW & GB. The problem is simply that you curve basically starts at 4 + agent of fates. I think there's nothing wrong with it - but I find actually getting the correct cards passed to me to be difficult to make anything other than a deck that punishes stumblers. I general I am getting locked into my P1P1 rares and forcing green too which is ... hard.

Blah, Blah, who cares. I am willing to try Nimbus Naiad as a P1P1.

Even though I haven't seen a great deck that had a lot of blue in draft.

I'll take caryatid as well. Naiad is very good and I considered it strongly, but caryatid has been pretty valuable to me when I played it. Basically, it accelerates you into your larger creatures and removal (accelerating into a turn 3 griptide saved me from a a 12 damage swing by a fabled hero. Although extreme, accelerating into your removal is pretty important considering how expensive they are in the set and how aggressive the format can be), helps with monstrosity, fixes your mana (especially if you splash!), makes it easier to keep mana open for your tricks, helps with the expensive bestow costs, allows you to pay for off colored activation costs, etc.

It's also relevant that there are 3 other playable green cards in the pack, meaning that we can probably nab one of them on the wheel.

Its between Naiad and Crusader for me, Crusader cuts both red AND heroic, while Naiad cuts blue and is just an overall really good card.

Theres a lot of green in this pack, and i'd rather send it down the line for other people to fight over.

Naiad for me.

Ramp is nice in limited, but Caryatid is pretty much the bomb as far as ramp is concerned. However, I don't think I'd value it or a Wind Drake with upside over removal.

I'd rather take Baleful Eidolon here. Mostly I'd rather have the Eidolon because I have been impressed with Black over Blue in this format. Strong devotion options helps considerably.

I don't really see the logic in this. This makes sense when you open a pack where the best two cards are in the same color, such that if you pick one, then the guy next to you will almost certainly pick the other. Rather than fighting with the guy next to you, you instead pick the third best card and let the two guys to your left fight.

In this case though, the other green cards are much weaker than the alternatives. Assuming you pick the caryatid, Naiad, lash of whip and eidolon will surely be picked above any of the green cards (unless a player is forcing green) and several of the other cards are on par with the green cards. Picking a green card here and passing the others will not put you in a position where you are fighting with the people on your immediate left. The next green card will most likely be picked by someone on the other side of the table, which is exactly where you want the person sharing a color with you to be.

Not only that, but the high amount of decent, but not great green means you are very likely to get a good pick on the wheel.

My vote is for sylvan caryatid. It's a nice open first pick that allows us to go several directions.

I agree that worrying about the signal you send isn't nearly as important as the signals you get (with the exception of the recent guild format).

dork is the only exciting thing and isnt that exciting. green is a fine place to be and ramp lets you play foxes earlier.
other than that, baleful eidolon and naiad are both supremely playable, I favor the eidolon a little more since they are harder to find. lash kills things dead.

if piper or sedge scorp tabled that would be great, the piper might actually come back.

Well I'm a bad drafter...things have sure changed theory-wise in the last 3 years though :\.

Also I must be overrating those green cards then...I remember hearing that both savage surge AND sedge scorpion are pretty good cards.

Wow, a pretty bad BoP or 5-cost soft removal? Theros is really a lovely place sometimes.

As much as I'd like to make the "Where there's a whip, there's a way" reference/joke, I have to go with the mana plant. It's kind of a vanilla pick... not good enough to lock us into green for sure, in case it dries up. Sure, it stings to not play your p1p1, but if you get a better draft that way ,you do it
