This was a very strange draft. It began as UB, and then went very red, after a p1p6 Magma Spray. Full draft is in the spoiler.

draft

This is what I played:

1 x Deathbellow Raider
2 x Deepwater Hypnotist
1 x Reckless Reveler
1 x Sigiled Starfish
1 x Sigiled Skink
1 x Archetype of Aggression
1 x Kragma Butcher
1 x Minotaur Skullcleaver
1 x Stormcaller of Keranos
2 x Borderland Minotaur
1 x Cyclops of One-Eyed Pass
1 x Ill-Tempered Cyclops
1 x Labyrinth Champion
1 x Horizon Scholar

1 x Aqueous Form
2 x Magma Spray
2 x Fall of the Hammer
1 x Stratus Walk
1 x Purphoros, God of the Forge
1 x Rage of Purphoros

6 x Island
10 x Mountain

sideboard

1 x Scouring Sands
1 x Font of Ire
1 x Pensive Minotaur
1 x Dissolve
1 x Triton Shorestalker
1 x Riptide Chimera
1 x Triton Cavalry
1 x Sphinx's Disciple

A nice aggro curve, but a sure underdog to any decent UB or UG deck. I was quite surprised when I won the draft. The high point came in the decider of the finals, where my sideboarded Font of Ire won the race against a very aggressive GB deck on turn six.

I quite like full-block drafting. Just about any strategy has a chance, as long as you stick to it and have a clear vision of what your deck wants to do. This deck admittedly has a few cards that don't fit, like the Champion and maybe the Starfish, but Starfish is just too good to be left out of any deck, no matter how aggressive.

I think Starfish is a great card for aggro because it shores up your main weakness; topdecking land.

Obviously this doesn't apply to Constructed formats, but free Scry in Limited is insane because it provides consistency to inherently inconsistent decks.

Just goes to show how different people draft. My draft would have been completely different. On the first 8 picks (without looking ahead) I would have had:
-Deicide (instant speed enchantment removal is almost a bomb in this set)
- Mastiff
- Magma Spray
- Dryads
- Swiftclaw
- Swiftclaw
- Fortifier
- Rhetoric

So I would have been looking at white based aggro with either red or green in support. I would have been rewarded in pack 2 by Eidolon but the other picks aren't worth looking at as they are influenced by your picks. I would guess that this would have ended up in a very sick Boros aggro deck.

I think Starfish over Deicide is correct. I'm not passing scryfish for mostly anything, not even the Hind. Maybe a real bomb rare, like Silence the Believers or Hour of Need. In fact, p1p1 was one of the strongest I've seen lately, with Brawler, Nyx Weaver, Oreads all being stronger than the rare, IMO.

Chimera as pick two was an experiment, I really want to make it work sometime. But I got cut on blue pretty hard, so it didn't work. In fact, the whole point was to show a draft that went badly as far as signals go, and still got a nice deck out of it.

You certainly have a point about white, and it might have been the way to go. RW can have problems getting through, though, and blue gave me Deepwater Hypnotist, Aqueous Form and Stratus Walk to help with that. And four cheap pieces of red removal helped, obviously.

I thought the first (P1P3) Bloodcrazed hoplite pick was odd, and skink > boar is questionable. Hypnotist > Retraction Helix (P2P4) is also non standard...but maybe with R it's better. Hypnotist for me just gets in for 2 once or twice and then they have 2 blockers. I guess if you get in for 4 it's done it's job.

P3 P10 I probably would have taken another deathbellow over the 4/3 for 4 but I guess you went for devotion here (and I would have had Boar in the 4 slot)

I like the chimera - it's nuts with an enchantrip. I probably would have taken Dakra Mystic to go with my starfish though.

Skink over Boar is a question of which deck you're building. Skink is way better in aggro, and I like it slightly more overall. But then, it's a matter of preference.

Deathbellow is bad if you can't help it. You need pump or black mana to make it good. But the 4 power for four mana is exactly the top of the curve I needed. Speaking of devotion, Fanatic would probably have done more damage than the God; but God is cooler :) So is Chimera over the Mystic. Sometimes I just want to try for something offbeat.

Looking back, probably the best outcome would have been if I picked the Oreads p1p1. It's a legitimate first pick, as a build-around card. I would have ended with a mono-red deck with three Magma Spray and two Skinks, as I would probably get more red in pack two.
