It's been a long, long time since I've had a pool this good. I ended up building a green/black deck and going 4-0, but I was highly tempted by other elements of my pool as well. Here's what it was. ~The Deck~ Creatures (14) 1 Hateful Eidolon 1 Lampad of Death's Vigil 2 Temple Thief 1 Underworld Charger 1 Venomous Hierophant 1 Gravebreaker Lamia 1 Destiny Spinner 1 Nessian Wanderer 1 Nyx Herald 1 Arasta of the Endless Web 1 Voracious Typhon 1 Nylea's Forerunner 1 Polukranos, Unchained Spells (9) 1 Cling to Dust 1 Mogis's Favor 1 Tymaret Calls the Dead (Promo) 1 Aspect of Lamprey 1 Eat to Extinction 2 Final Death 1 Mystic Repeal 1 Return to Nature Lands (17) 8 Forest 9 Swamp My observations of this were pretty much as follows: My bombs were Gravebreaker, Polukranos (Pokey, as I started to call him), and Charger and I could reliably find at least one of those to end the game. Pokey himself is the best, but the lifegain from Lamprey and Lamia couldn't be ignored and turned around a few games in which I was very much playing the control side. I also had a LOT of good removal to take out just about anything that actually threatened me. Most annoying card I kept playing against had to be Dreadful Apathy since it could exile Pokey or the bad horse. ~The Rest of the Pool~ Leonin of the Lost Pride Transcendent Envoy Dawn Evangel Favored of Iroas Archon of Sun's Grace Captivating Unicorn Daybreak Chimera (Foil) Karametra's Blessing Sentinel's Eyes Flicker of Fate Indomitable Will Phalanx Tactics Revoke Existence Banishing Light Dreadful Apathy Triumphant Surge Eidolon of Philosophy Sage of Mysteries Riptide Turtle Threnody Singer Elite Instructor Naiad of Hidden Coves Vexing Gull Callaphe, Beloved of the Sea (Showcase) Triton Waverider Stern Dismissal Omen of the Sea Deny the Divine Ichthyomorphosis Thirst for Meaning One with the Stars Grim Physician Fruit of Tizerus Funeral Rites Aspect of Lamprey (another copy in addition to the main deck one) Blood Aspirant Underworld Rage-Hound Hero of the Games Stampede Rider 2x Flummoxed Cyclops Skophos Warleader Final Flare Furious Rise Portent of Betrayal Wrap in Flames Hyrax Tower Scout 2x Nexus Wardens 2x Nyxborn Colossus Setessan Training 2x Inspire Awe Other Thaumaturge's Familiar Bronze Sword 2x Wings of Hubris Altar of the Pantheon Siona, Captain of the Pyleas Rise to Glory Temple of Abandon The white, in particular, was very tempting to run over green with heavy removal and a bomb of its own to replace Pokey. Again, monstrously lucky pool, probably the second best I've had in my entire M:tG playing career. |

That's nice. I've done three sealeds and have yet to open any legendary creatures. Real bummer as I was super fascinated by that enchantment-that-becomes-a-creature design space. For some reason I keep being drawn to white in my sealed pools - perhaps it was because one of the first theros streams I watched the guy was playing UW. Also tried RB sacrifice....didn't go so well. |
