My buddy and I were just reminiscing about a 2HG event that we won last year, so I thought I'd start a thread about it. Because sharing stories is what forums are for.

We won it like this:

Our opponents have five total creatures on board, and they have 40+ life to our 10ish. But they're tapped out.

We have Master of Cruelties on board, as well as Zhur-Taa Druid. And I have Gridlock in hand with five mana in play. Cue us topdecking a land, completely Gridlocking the opposition, swinging with the Master, and finally tapping the Druid ftw.

Good times.

One time I cast Return from the Underworld targetting a Gray Merchant of Asphodel, sacrificing a Gray Merchant of Asphodel.

Then I did it again.

That was pretty awesome.

It was a grab a pack draft online(not mtgo)...
Opponent attacks with a Krosan vorine my sootfeather flock.
I cast traitor's clutch on it and block with a pit keeper.
Unfortunately he had bewilder in hand...,but it still buyed me time to get enough lands for urza's factory.
Then I finished the game by casting both parts of fires of undeath targeting my opponent.

So I got to spend 5 mana to give to one of my creatures "can't block this turn", then I spent 8 mana multiple times for some bears with flash and then I payed 9 mana to burn something for 4.

I think that I haven't payed so much mana for such "underwhelming" effects since I payed 24 mana in a edh game..for a whispers of the muse.
