So, a buddy of mine commissioned me to build him a pauper (and budget) cube. This is what I have so far. I'm reasonably satisfied with it, but I really wanted to get some input before I try and build it and set it on our game-group. I themed it out mostly with cards that depict women since he's new to playing Magic, and when he drafted my cube he had no idea what he was doing, so he picked all the cards that came his way with a hot chick in the image. Anywho, please take a look and let me know if it's reasonable as a cube.

Pauper? Peasant?
I see a lot of uncommons.

Pretty sure Pauper is common/uncommon. I don't really know or care the difference.

Your white 1-drops are kinda poop beyond the Kithkin Trapper.

Is there supposed to be some theme to this cube?

Pauper is commons only. Peasant is commons/uncommons.

Yeah, I have no idea why they are called different stuff, but it's commons and uncommons since they're usually inexpensive and reasonably balanced against each other.

Pauper is the official name for the all common format online, that's probably what confused Storyteller. We virtuals call this kind of format peasant. Sometimes, trash rares are used to makes things more interesting. I'd suggest you check what kind of cards your playgroup has available, and add them in.

IIRC, Unglued has a chick theme :)

I used a couple cards from Unhinged (Red-Hot Hottie and Rocket-Powered Turbo Slug), but I really didn't want the cube to be overly silly. The only reason I really included those two was that I needed more women in red since there are surprisingly few (at common and uncommon) good ones.

With that aside, does anyone have any notes on the power levels of the cards, or what to keep and what to replace it with?

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have been reading when I'm sick and doped up on Meds. I ended up going to sleep 30 minutes after I posted here.

Kor Skyfisher would be a good addition, and you can make some sort of bounce/flicker theme going with Mistmeadow Witch and some come into play effects.

Also, Soul's Attendant without Soul Warden makes me sad.

Yeah, after the comment that my white one drops need work, I am reconsidering Soul Warden. I think I cut her at first since I really wasn't sure if having multpile cards with the same effect was a good thing.

Buddy of mine helped me balance the cube some more. Minor changes here and there, but it should improve it overall. Let me know what you guys think of it.

So, just another futile attempt to get feedback. The cube is just about where I want it to be and has gone through a lot of changes. Two rare cycles were added for a bit of power and red changed a lot, any thoughts?
