I've been thinking about this for a while. I want to make a modern cube. And by modern I mean like Modern Masters. Only cards that have the new card frame.

Now these are just potential options I know as we go things will need to be narrowed down.

Making a Cube seems like a daunting task. I never played one, but I read some design articles about the Cube and the Modern Masters on the Mothership, and it seems to me it might be better if we started by deciding on some draft strategies, and then choosing cards that fit. Maybe one strategy per color pair? That would give us enough space for eight drafters. I'm not sure this can be made to work in a Cube, but it seems better than just going through the list, picking cards that catch our fancy. Things like Boros aggro, Izzet storm, UG tempo ...

Do you mean cards legal in Modern, or cards printed with the new card frame? Because those are very different things.

I'm thinking cards printed with the new frame so we can include some of the cooler cards from commander decks and such.

And we can come up with ideas for color pairs and for mono as well. Any ideas?

What size Cube are you aiming for? 360? 400? More?

What's the breakdown of commons, uncommons, rares and mythic rares that you're aiming for?

Is this just a concept, or do you plan on building it? If you build it, what's your budget looking like?
