Had sort of a miserable night playing WITH this card. My deck was a usual BG grind fest.

M1 G2 I sac'd my board to flip this but immediately got Angelic Purged. This was terrible play on my part, I knew opp had Angelic Purge in her Deck AND she pretty obviously was holding it. I was only a little behind, I should have just made some more guys. Ended up mulling to 5 in game 3...

(bye M2)

M3 G1 I lost a reasonably close game- just couldn't get delerium on in time. G2 with the help of Gisa's Bidding I could actually T5 flip the Abbey... but I was now gunshy and played a few more dudes first. Then I flipped him, hit for 9, and he top decked Just the Wind. I still had the board stalled out and built up to 5 extra dudes again. I attacked him twice with 9 ll, he chumped both times, alpha struck me (I too 8?), then played Descent among the Sinful (fisherman) with Delirium. I played Angelic Purge to get his 4/4 angel and then cast a nightmare horse but we both had big life totals.... ended up going down to each of us with 2 cards in library (my first play) but opp. played Abberant Researcher and I squeaked out a highly unsatisfying draw.

I kind of think I should have played Pick the Brain with Abbey? I had one in my board.

Abbey is a real skill tester. Ideally, you want to be able to win when you flip it. I had a game recently when I put opponent on Just the Wind, so even though I had quite some tokens from Crawling Sensation, I waited and played a Morkrut Necropod first. The plan worked, they had to bounce the Necropod, and I won the game with Abbey. Only problem was, I lost the match due to timing out in the next game :(

I don't think Abbey is a bomb. It's only really playable in GB control, and it takes a long time to win a game using it. I still pick it high in pack one, but will pass it in later packs. Disruption is fine, but you need eight mana plus the Abbey to make it work, so again it takes a long time, and you added a card you don't really want to use before going off to your deck. Vessel might work too, it makes them hold back cards (or play with an empty hand), and I'm always happy giving the opponent possibilities for misplays.

Gotta love this format, it's almost ended and there are still a lot of things to explore.
