Flowstone Embrace

If we're splashing blue, Dramatic Rescue is pretty good, even if we only expect to cast it late game, but I like the Embrace better. Vodalian Merchant will not help us at all.

Embrace. It's removal or pump, whatever we want more.

Flowstone Embrace is a solid, versatile card. It is, IMO, the pick here.

Colossus of Sardia is a cute bit of insurance versus interminably long game, and would also be a half decent call making a guess at this format.

IMO we should be doing our best to AVOID blue at the moment. Color dilettantism results in mana troubles and weaker packs 2 and 3 when the color you actually wanted is being picked by the guy one or two seats over. Grab red and strangle it off from the rest of the table. White picks we've got decent support for already.

There are some decent blue cards in this pack, but that would mean cutting the dragon for sure. I think embrace is fine.

Embrace is a good card that will definitely make our deck.

Awful pack. Burning Shield Askari, I guess?

I'm tempted by Quicksilver amulet. It's KINDA like mana fixing. And ramp, both of which only work on creatures. If we don't go for that, burning shield and bomber corps are both OK.

amulet is interesting, but I think Askari is the right pick. a 2/2 flanking that can threaten first strike is nothing to scoff at.

I think Bomber Corps is a trap option – it only triggers off three attacking creatures, which forces an aggressive weenie deck, and the payoff for jumping through hoops isn't even that good. If it's mediocre in Gatecrash limited even with battalion support, I don't think it will be any good in a purely random draft.

Wall of Swords

Let's support our Dragon, shall we? This is probably the best defensive creature ever, in a random draft it should stop just about everything. Or, if we want to have some fun, let's take the Amulet. You have to invest two turns, but then all your critters turn into combat tricks and/or have haste. Askari is all right, but weaker than these two (Wall kills it), and Bomber is just bad.

No love for Scalpelexis? It blocks well and exiles a bunch of our opponent's stuff on offense. We even have a decent chance at triggering the "repeat this process" clause because opposing decks should be full of basic lands.

It's blue. I'm thinking of blue as a light splash, possibly only the Angel. Otherwise, it's fine.

Quicksilver amulet. Didn't the last pack have a 9/9 trample for 9?

Amulet. Right now it helps us drop the dragon, angel, and any other fatties down the line. Its not super reliable for us to get it regularly, but when we draw it, its worth it.

Seems like it's a tie, so I change my vote to Amulet.

I don't get how Flowstone Embrace is removal. Anyway, for this pick I think we should grab one of the creatures. I think the Askari is probably slightly better for us than the wall, although it's pretty close.
