No thoughts toward picking Bloodcrazed Hoplite in case white dries up and we see some good black? We already have Macar, so I'm not sure we should jump full-tilt on white just yet. The Priest is fine, but not amazing.

White might not be the best in triple JOU, but I think we hit the jackpot anyway, guys. No one seems to be on White on our left and we passed only a few White goodies. Priest is the obvious pick here.

EDIT: after a quick recap I realized that we passed a little more good White than I initially thought. I still think the pick is Priest, though. Pack 2 might be a little shaky, but everything should come together on pack 3.

We already have 3 legal targets and 2 enablers for priest, and we haven't even gotten through pack 1 yet.

I agree with you. Our best card so far is black. Bloodcrazed is a good enough card alone, and taking it here leaves us open to more combinations of colors.

We aren't that far into pack 1. We could still easily go black, and if we do we have a bomb. Plus honestly We could consider splashing for king, since he fixes/ramps. Green black, splashing white? We aren't dedicated to anything other than green. And even that...

We're only halfway through the first pack, I'd rather pick for flexibility. Is spending a spell to bring back a Golden Hind what we want to be doing? I understand why you would pick the Priest, and it could be correct, but Hoplite is a better card and it gives us more options for future picks.

I said splash white. Macar wins games, nothing else we've taken so far does. Black is an option.

EDIT: Looking back at the packs, we could have easily run black white constellation. Grim guardians, armamanents, nyx infusion, even the sheep. Defensive arly game, use constelation to force an advantage, remove threats with macar.

The pick is clearly Priest and I don't even know how that's a discussion. Not only it's better than the Hoplite, it's in the color that is so obviously open we would be silly to let it go.

To me, you evaluate heroic creatures as if you'll target them once; a 3/2 two-drop that can potentially shrink a defender is a pretty good deal. A 2/3 three-drop that revives one little guy isn't as good in a vacuum, IMO. Yes we have targets and enablers, but it's still pretty early. If we didn't have Macar I wouldn't start picking black, but we do have him so we should pick with that in mind.

I'm going to play Jman's role in this thread if we start seeing a bunch of good black cards from hereon out.

So far, the two enablers we have are White, the color that is open to us. Maybe Black starts to flow and we ditch Green. Maybe. Right now, we should hop into the White train while it's still possible.
