balloonist + menial would have been kinda cool together. Anyway, I'd probably just go with Stone Giant here.

Dread Statuary, although it's very close between that and the Giant.

Dread Statuary is free in terms of deck space, but Stone Giant is a decently efficient creature that might also give us some reach. Hmm.

I think the main problem with Dread Statuary is that it blocks well, but it tends to trade down when it attacks. I'll pick Stone Giant, since it's the more aggressive option.

Ogre Menial

For me, the question here is, are we the aggressor, or are we control? Our first three picks are more controllish, so I prefer the Menial. Much less flashy than the Giant, but it shrinks things. Wither is very good.

yeah, but it's a huge mana sink to do anything useful. whereas stone giant is a 3/4 for 4, which lets it block and kill most creatures that cost less than it, and many that cost the same or more. creatures need at least 4 toughness for menial to be better than giant, and if they do that means we want to sink as much as 4 mana into it.

plus we do need to win at some point, and menial is at odds with every other way we have of doing that.

I'm gonna say Giant. Gravedigger is the best card in the pack, but it's not better than dragon and it's not better than the burn package, so it's not really worth switching for.

Dread Statuary, though that might just be my Constructed experience with man-lands talking.

Stone Giant. I don't think we want to pass any creatures with playable stats in this format. Dread Statuary might not cost deck space but I don't expect that to be a very scarce resource.

I would take Ogre Menial. It is a mana sink but it is awesome when on line.

That Lighting Angel is super-sexy, but the mana cost is pretty rough for Limited. I think we take Profit here and start potentially looking at a light black splash.

I say we just go for Lightning Angel and start valuing fixing higher.
