That Oathsworn would have looked sweet with Aspect of Hydra, but all we got was a Piker. Boo.

I think we need more dudes, so that means we pick Astronomer.

I guess we were correct to pass the astronomer, and it's fine to pick it now.

Stratus Walk

No good creatures for our deck, and this replaces itself, triggers heroics, and gives evasion.

Stratus Walk is good, but we don't really have that many guys that want to wear it right now.

Just realizing now, but what are we, mono blue?
I'm not fond of playing that tower archer given we only have so many green cards, and we only have 2 green otherwise O_o

I'd pick the Meletis Astronomer. We actually probably won't be using his Heroic since 1) we'll miss and 2) we might cycle Hour of Need but a 1/3 for 2 cmc isn't awful.

Why is everyone in here so meh about Astronomer? That card is quite good. Nice on the curve and creates card advantage. When in doubt I take creatures over auras, especially creatures with high upside. Astronomer for sure!

This is spot-on, we need the dude.

Hypnotist >> Oathsworn
Walk >> Astronomer

The good cards work alone. Not-so-good ones need a little help.

Hypnotist has outright won me quite some games, enabling attacks into what would otherwise be lethal blockers. The tempo swing adds up, and before they know it, the game is over (even though it may not look that way).

Astronomer is a combo piece. If you do not have the enchantments, he's bad. We are too late to start building a deck around him. No sweat, Omenspeaker is a better two-drop anyway.

A 1/3 creature will always work alone.
An aura will (most) always need a creature :P.

Notice none of us are suggesting we take Astronomer for his ability.

Last time I checked aura don't work so well alone...

I think we just take Astronomer at this point. It is a dude.

Fair enough. I did think the ability was why you all wanted this guy. It makes no sense to me otherwise. I guess I just don't want to play a deck where a vanilla 1/3 for two is a good card. And it's better not to have a bad creature than pick it and live in the mistaken belief that you have a playable two drop. I want an Omenspeaker or a Dryad for that spot.

Astronomer is more than playable and I'd take it over Omenspeaker 100% of the time.

We can find 3 card with astronomer as of now, we already have 5 good 2 mana creatures, hypnotist or spirespine+walk looks good.

Stratus walk, let's pick some fatties in theros.

With the damage output we have right now, chorus of the tides over sudden storm still looks correct to me.

I'd take astronomer here. It's a solid early body and the heroic ability will hit a surprising number of times.
