I feel like the UW tempo deck is incredibly underrated, and that's often reflected in the pick orders. It's not as good as it was in KTK-FRF, but it still packs a punch.
Ojutai's Breath is better than
Crippling Chill in this deck, especially if you're supporting it with the underrated prowess creatures in pack three. And white is just chock-full of aggro two-drops. It took me a solid month to try it but it's been really good for me.
What does this have to do with pick orders? Well, look at how low
Ojutai's Breath is on that pick order. It's the heart of this deck, giving you so much tempo for so little.
Elusive Spellfist didn't make the line-up, and I'd similarly not advocate drafting it high, but that's just it: the deck wants two-drops nobody else does. And with
Ojutai's Summons dropping in a lot of evaluations because of it's hefty cost, getting those pick 4, 5, and 6 isn't all that uncommon, which is great for this deck.
I've heard a lot of people say that the BU value-control deck puts a big stopper on strategies like this, but I haven't found that to be exactly the case. Tap a few things here, play a few fliers there, and you can sneak through. My only question is whether the tempo cards from blue can work well with green or red.
