Brainstorm? Also considering one of the pseudomadness cards. Or exile.

Wild Mongrel

That, or Exile. What use is card draw if you have no good things to play? No way to shuffle away the two unneeded cards? And we have Gush, which is very much better than Brainstorm.

Without Madness or reanimation, Wild Mongrel doesn't seem that great. I don't know if I want to spend p1p2 on it.
Brainstorm, Exile and Chain lightning all seem great. Bolt with a downside that rarely matters, great draw/filter, or powerful removal with upside? In this situation all I can do is stick with the colour we already have.

Brainstorm.

Madness has three great commons in the set, Arrogant Wurm, Basking Rootwalla and Circular Logic. Also flashback in Roar of the Wurm, which you want in the grave anyway. Mongrel is the best enabler, since the ability does not require mana or tap to activate. The effect is great, and it dodges Exile by changing color.

It's very early, taking the Mongrel puts us in a great position to draft madness/reanimation. And there is precious little else in the pack, at least not on the power level of Mongrel or Exile.

Rootwalla, because it's obvious after Mongrel.

Psychatog seems like where we want to be too... although Rootwalla might be easier to cast.... I am torn but I want the uncommon.

Su-chi.

It beats down quite hard.

Psychatog is a combo piece. It can be used in madness, but it's much worse than Mongrel; it is not woth splashing black for. Walla is a beater that just happens to have the madness tacked on. It's also common, has no evasion, and can be picked up later.

A 4/4 for 4 is nice, but is it that great? I don/'t think we'll be able to get much use out of Su-chi's ability. We'd be passing instant speed removal with cycling for it. Not to mention everybody's favourite Walla (who I don't think will wheel).

I want the walla.

4/4's are above average creatures. If we are't taking Chi, then I like the Griffin here. Value man with Evasion.
