You're not drafting a wall, you're drafting a regrowth for instants/sorceries that leaves behind a body. You're drafting card advantage. It basically has the same role as Archaeomancer in M14. No one drafted him because they wanted a 1/2 body.
Unfortunately, the card suffers a lot in the current format - but I have high hopes for it as the next sets are released! Mnemonic Wall is fantastic when you have removal and the time to reuse it. In that sense, it works fantastic alongside
Sea God's Revenge,
Griptide,
Sip of Hemlock, and even
Lightning Strike. It works far less well with
Voyage's End,
Pharika's Cure, or
Triton Tactics. Given the right situation, it does wonders with
March of the Returned - but the fact that the March isn't a high-value pick shows just how important it is in this format to not "waste" a turn 4+ play on merely expanding your hand. In any slow format, March of the Returned would be great due to the fact that it's "draw 2 - and those two cards are creatures... maybe even your best creatures".
If you have a great instant or sorcery, Mnemonic Wall is a copy of that.
Unfortunately, it's a late pick right now because there's not a whole lot of great instants or sorceries that you can waste a turn setting up in Triple-Theros. That's the only reason this is a sad pick.
