It doesn't have to, we just forced and took 1/1s and 2/1s as mid-high picks.

Eidolon is legit-ish theros is not full of two drops and ending up with not enough of them is possible, so picking one with a decent upside in a weak pack is not that bad.

Pick 1 we passed Ornitharch
Pick 2 we passed nothing
Pick 3 we took the best card
Pick 4 we passed …a 3/3 sort of evasive 5 drop
Pick 5 we did pass a 3/3 for 4 with text
Pick 6 we passed a 4/4 for 5, a bear-minus, a 2/2 flyer + for 5
Pick 7 we took pants over a solid off-color guy 3/2 for
Rest of the packs were basically empty - because the cards suck.

Obviously we could have taken ornitharch P1P1 - this was debated and likely correct. However i counted 1-2 other playable white cards (a skyguard and a combat trick)

So - I think that we could have jumped into green pick 5 and had another 3/2 centaur and a Pheres Band Tromper

In hindsight - I think we can agree that green is a little open and we didn't jump at the first flash. OK, it happens, we are down 2 solid cards. But if we don't get shipped green in pack 2 it's irrelevant anyway.

The one card I am a little curious about is Sphinx's Disciple. I cannot tell how good this card is. 2/2 flyer that draws cards? SIGN ME UP. But is a lot to pay for 2 power.

We just need to get a Centaur Battlemaster in the next pack, and we are fine.


Sphinx's Disciple seemed okay. Played it in the sealed event I did. It gets outclassed really easily (Bestow a Leafcrown Dryad, and suddenly their Disciple is poo) but the potential to draw cards is strong, and not to be underrated in this format.
