Description
Beryl is a woman in her late twenties. She is diminutive in stature – shorter than average, and with a gaunt physique. Her features are angular and austere, and her skin is pale. She has thin, wispy black hair which she generally wears long and combed-down over the left half of her face, in an attempt to conceal her ruined left eye and the scar surrounding it. The eye itself is clouded and milky; she cannot see out of it and cannot close it. The scar tissue which rings it is irregular, red, raised, and painful. Beryl's functioning right eye is a deep green color, after which she was named.

She has a second prominent scar running across her chest – a thin, red line marking the place where she was stabbed through the heart. She has a third scar on the palm of her right hand, where her skin was burned when she unlocked the power within a Fire Diamond.

Beryl's style of dress is mostly unremarkable. She generally wears utilitarian clothes and values warmth and durability over style or quality of manufacture. She wears black hobnail boots and black fingerless leather gloves. She has enchanted her gloves with wards against fire. Her only notable possession is an old, fragile book bound in red leather: her mother's copy of Thineaus's Arcanum Obscurata, a pseudo-historical collection of stories and myths about ancient magicians and their spells, and a work regarded by most modern scholars as, at best, unreliable, or, at worst, outright fiction.

Beryl is instinctive and quick-witted, but also private and guarded by nature. She can be distrustful of others, but is more distrustful of herself, and her main motivation in avoiding the company of others is to attempt to protect herself and those around her from her own power. She rarely loses her temper, and tends to assume that she herself is ultimately responsible for tragic events which occur in her presence. However, in moments of extreme emotional agitation, she often finds her magical abilities both amplified and only partially under her conscious control.

If asked about herself or her past, Beryl is often cagey and vague. Partly out of a desire for privacy, partly out of a sense of shame, and partly out of fear that others will come to know her too well even as she struggles to know herself.

The +1 needs an "until end of turn" or if that wasn't the intent it should have the reminder text "this effect lasts indefinately".
Not a typo, but I don't really like the -1. If you use it, odds are she won't be attacked and the effect won't trigger. Since it's a -1 you can't even use it to stall for time. The ability would work as a +0 or +1, although you might want to tone down the damage reduction in accordance. It could as a minus ability if the effect also prevented damage dealt to you, but once again you would have to tone the damage prevention.
