Alright, this is gonna be a lot of fun, hopefully. Character creation rules are simple. As I'm in school, the PTA webpage is blocked, so I can't link you just yet, but I will once my break starts through mobile. But as it is, here's what I can say. Go to the PTA webpage: http://PokemonTabletop.wikidot.com, select the Pokemon you will be playing as. Start at level 5, meaning you have 4 stat points to spend. Follow base relations, which again, I will explain in the second post on this topic, unless you already. Your moves will also be on the site, so try to get those down. For this game, for convenience sake, we'll be limited to Gen 5. |

Define "limited to Gen 5" please? Only Gen 5 pokemons? |

I assume he means pokemon up to the fifth generation as the site he links doesn't include the rules for 6th Generation Pokemon. At least that's what I assume he means. Incidentally anyone got any idea what they are going to play? 700+ choices leaves me kinda at a loss. |

Because I'm normally on mobile these days and cannot access the XY Update on mobile, XY will not be part of the game. So everything from RGBY-BWB2W2 is allowed. Megas are potential. I make no promises there. |

Everything you say? Shiny Arceus then. Anyway, I'm contemplating between Shuppet, Cottonee, Mienfoo and Espurr, maybe some others I've forgotten. That last one is currently out though, unless I can make the argument that I have the XY .pdf, so I can just provide information on such things if they should be necessary. |

That is a valid argument, to be honest. If you can provide the actual info, then I dont see why we can't use XY. I'll just have to pop on my computer a lot more often than usual. |

How are we handling Nature and abilities? Are we choosing them or rolling randomly or what? |

Post subject: | Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Athos Guild Adventures |
I would assume we choose. Especially Nature, being a representative of your personality. I can't really understand what mindset I'm supposed to be in to play as a Pokémon. |

Post subject: | Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Athos Guild Adventures |
You choose natures, ability is rolled at random. The mindset of a Pokemon in this setting is best explained through action. But to put it as best as I can, because Pokemon are the sole inhabitants of this world, they are basically living lives similar to a D&D-esque setting. I guess that's as best as I can explain it. The games are better at it. |

Pokémon: Absol Level: 5 Nature: Lonely Ability: Dark Art/Pressure/Super Luck High Ability: Justified Base Stats: 7/13/6/8/6/8 Stats: 7/17/4/8/6/10 HP: 26 Capability List: Overland 8, Surface 6, Jump 4, Power 3, Intelligence 4, Aura, Stealth, Tracker Moves: Scratch, Feint, Leer, Megahorn How to combat here work anyway? The moves look like they do too much damage. I mean, if someone does an average scratch on me, I'll die. |

Your health is level + 3xHP. Nature also gives +2/-2 (only +1/-1 to health values), so your defense could be 4 if you so desired. |

Oh, I see. You get +1 to def evasion at 5 so figured I might as well. |

Well, you could use your speed for the same benefit, although there are probably several circumstances where it would be lower, so that sounds reasonable. Random questions: What is the availability of egg, tutor and tm moves? And evolution stones/items, while we're at it. If an evolution doesn't have the same ability as the pre-evolution, what happens? Trainers have skill checks for social encounters. Will we? Do we use, like, intelligence? What are resting mechanics like in the game? If someone gets badly poisoned, are they royally screwed unless we happen to have the right berry? If I complain enough, do I get to choose my own ability? how does grid combat even work in pbp |

Tis why I have speed at 10 (1 evasion/10 speed). |

imadinosaur rolled 1d3 and got a total of 2: PRESSURE THOOOO Mown, to answer your questions: You each may choose one egg move if you wish, and elemental stones can be found in dungeons and are sold for a high price at stores. The ability changes to match the number rolled. So if you roll a 2, each ability in your line will be the second one listed. Where as trainers have social checks, I've simply decided to base your bonus on how well you're able to portray your character in the given situation and how well I understand it. Basically, I'm rewarding in character role playing and penalizing bad role playing. If you fail to get rest, you will suffer in character negatives. Poisoning can be self cured if you succeed your self curing roll, which I personally think is silly, but it's an apparent thing. Correct me if poisoning isn't self curable, as I'm under the impression that paralysis and poison are the ones that can. And the supplies you're given when you become a rescue team will contain things for poison curing. there are also the scarf items from mystery dungeon, so a pecha scarf can help you with poison. You cant choose your ability sadly. And the combat won't be grid combat unless someone wants to help me with mapping. If you ever saw the mystery dungeon ovas, combat will be more similar to those games. And I'm sorry if I'm not a good GM. I'm gonna try to improve constantly for you guys. Thanks for agreeing to be part of my game, honestly. |

Pressure Cast - Daily Effect: When this Ability is activated, all enemies have their Moves set to their original frequency if they were able to be used more frequently. In addition, At-Will moves are now EOT. That's what pressure does in PTA. I like it, honestly. |

I really, really wanted super luck. I mean, have you seen Absol's moveset? +Crit all the way. |

Super luck would've been balling too. i also don't expect backstories until I release the lore/timeline/thing. It's too difficult too because you don't know the setting at all. And I should make some sort of world map, maybe. I'll get to work on this kinda stuff tomorrow. |

Now, which egg move to take? Megahorn is OP, but only if it hits (AC 5). Assurance is pretty strong, accurate, and has a easy-to-fill condition in group battle. Curse is great, but I probably have the wrong build for that, and it's kinda slow. Substitute seems amazing, but I'll have to give up the above moves for it. Thoughts? I also kinda want to change my nature to Adamant, but that seems to be metagaming a bit much. |

You have a 75% chance to hit with Megahorn, but Assurance is pretty good, too. I'd say either works. I'd say Assurance just because it has a better ac to my knowledge. Though the choice is ultimately yours. |
