Wait... Fighter, Healer, Thief, Magic User.

So what? We hit the perfect 4-person party make up entirely by random chance? Awesome.

Although I have to say I'm starting to dislike variant humans. That bonus feat just provides so many options for character creation they are just popping up everywhere.

The problem is while variant humans are a superior race choice, base humans are an inferior one. Maybe switch out the variant human's free feat for something else? Like maybe bringing back how 4E pushed humans to be a little more than the Mario of the races to be the ambitious, adventurous race. I was thinking stuff like advantage on death saving throws (~the human spirit~), etc.

I'm finishing the write-up for the IC thread today, and I'll try to finally post the variant rules from the DMG here.

That reminds me, I wanted to get some local flavor in on my game set. Maybe some find of dominos or Mah Jong equivalent? I was looking to get your input on that DS.

I also wanted to flip my Wisdom and Charisma scores (and one skill) because no one took charisma as their dump stat, because I wanted to put more effort into my looking than my talking.

You can just go with mahjong set or domino set. There's also playing cards, dice, go board.

This post has write-ups of the variant rules being used. They are mainly combat options.

As an FYI, to contextualize it a little, "king" or "queen" is not as impressive a word in the Jin Empire. It's more on the level of a governor at most times, under the emperor. So if you look at the map of Jin, a king would be more on the level of an individual named region. Obviously still a lot more power than a common peasant, but it's like a regional lord rather than a sovereign monarch.

ETA: I totally forgot to have everyone pick out a color for their dialogue!

I also forgot to PM each person to connect with them over their character, so I will do that hopefully today but who knows where the wind will blow.

I have always been partial to this color (which I actually think is slightly off from what I used in the thread... >_> )

Also, the fact that a temple is paying sellswords at all is interesting.

The statue: Is it a sphere? The description was "round" but I want to get a better feel for what it looks like.

It's not a sphere, the bird is just more round than thin and long. A Nature check can recognize the bird's species.

Hey DS how would the crowing of a new emperor even occur in this world? I assume normally it would be hereditary but the whole war situation has caused things to go pear shaped? Why would the priest be worried about the temple being demolished?
