Can I start with an Unown?

I'd say yes, but you have to give me a damn good reason.

If I had to guess I'd say he wants to go down the Mystic path and eventually become a Rune Master. Because that class is all kinds of fun.

Incidentally do we have any idea what region we will be starting in? I'm actually good for anything but I'd like to know before I setting on a few character details.

Also just to throw out something could I take a Scyther as a starter or would that be too powerful? It doesn't make or break anything just figured I'd ask.

Scyther's a maybe maybe, but on the region, I was gonna ask everyone for their opinion.
We've got a vote for Johto/Sinnoh cuz Unowns (guess who), and I'm willing to work with any region besides Kalos, Orre, or the Ranger Regions. Unova's a bit iffy, but I think I could do it.

I don't know how much of the adventure you have sorted out, but how about starting in a little higher level? Just a suggestion to make a departure from the other game. Other than that, I'm out of ideas for character creation. Does anyone want to work on something together?

Couple of miscellaneous thoughts in no particular order;

I'm fine with starting at level 0 but I wouldn't be opposed to starting higher than that - even if it's just Trainer Level 1 so we have the option of starting in a class if we so choose. That would be pretty neat.

For which region we would begin on I'd prefer Sinnoh over Johto just so we are traveling somewhere new. As an addendum to this though are our starter pokemon options tied to our starting region? Like if we were to start in Sinnoh would we also have to pick a pokemon native to Sinnoh?

Felbatista; What sort of help you looking for? Are you just drawing a blank on ideas or not sure if somethings viable or what? You have access to the Wiki right?If you haven't already might be worth looking through the list of classes and advanced classes for your trainer. Even if you don't intend to take the class at the first opportunity (or even at all) they might give you an idea about the sort of character you want to play. You don't always have to be the very best like no-one ever was. You could play a researcher or an explorer or something.

On that note - hey Dinosaur! Are you allowing us to play Coordinators? Ragrio was against it since it's basically having to learn two entirely different 'combat' systems but I figure I'd get official word if that how your planning on running it too.

Started looking through the wiki, and as per my usual, I think I'll be going all in with a class instead of going for any balance. Thinking of going for a Psychic Trainer, but not sure yet. Anywho, how do you know which pokemon are from which region?

Squinty, for general Pokémon advice, there's no better place than Bulbapedia. You can find a list of Pokémon per region over there. Although, I guess our characters don't have to be from the chosen region for the adventure, right Dinosaur?

So, we can start off with pokemon for any region? Since I'm aiming at becoming a psychic trainer, would I be allowed to start with any of the following:

Baltoy
Beldum
Bronzor
Elgyem
Inkay
Lunatone
Meditite
Solrock

Those (and their evolved forms) seem to fit the theme I'd want to aim for.

I'll say Trainer Level 1 and Pokemon Level 10, how about. This way you can have a Class if you choose, and your Pokemon will be a little bit better as well. Just remember... BASE RELATIONS.
Also, your starter can be from anywhere, provided a good explanation of how you got it and you understand the limitations. (No Pseudo Legendaries, etc.) I'd also like to know why your character is going to whatever region we end up going to, which looks to be Sinnoh at this point.

I took out the ones that I'm gonna have to say "no" to.
The rest of these are fine, though!

Also, no Gen 6 stuff until they add that to the system.
Which means we won't be going to Kalos.
which means you can't get the most fabulous of poodle pokemon.

I did remember - I assure you of this! I just type like I'm doing a tutorial sometimes. The advice still stands though. It's how I've came up with most of my character concepts. Also while it sounds like a fun idea if we are starting in Sinnoh it would more likely be Team Galactic - and they are the like the second worst dressed team out there. I don't think I could live with myself if I had to have a sky-blue bowl cut.



Just a bump on this. One of the concepts I had was for a coordinator but if you don't want to do the extra paperwork for just one guy I understand that.



Having had a look at a Scythers stat line I have to say - jeez that things powerful. I wouldn't let me have one of them. Still I feel like I should attempt to justify it. What if I told you the Scyther would be the only pokemon I ever use in battle regardless of the opponents overwhelming type advantage? Even when I clearly know it's a dumb thing to do? Kinda figure that helps balance out the initial boost in power when I don't have the luxury of swapping out to something else when things look bad.

Here's my feelings on Coordinators: I'd love to play one, but I would hate to have to run it because of
1. Different combat system.
2. Tons of paperwork.
3. Too complicated based on those two things alone.

And Garren, I'll have to say no on Scyther being your starter but I can talk to you about something if that'd float your boat.

And I'm also making my own team, so nobody has to worry about Bowl Cuts.

Also Saturn was a fabulous **** and nobody can convince me otherwise.

I'm down for Sinnoh and starting higher levels. I'm working on my backstory right now.

So the votes are leaning towards Sinnoh, and I'm getting ready for Sinnoh. So is anyone that hasn't voted yet going to make a vote for any main series region besides Kalos?

Hey no prob man. Like I say I was just gathering what I can and can't do before finally settling on a character concept. And yeah I kinda agree about coordinator. Unless you have at least two of them on the team it just doesn't seem worth all the paperwork needed.
