New IC post is up, everyone has some personal notes to read over.

And players, please be careful what knowledge you use IC. All metagame info is posted in these threads, so just make sure you keep player knowledge and character knowledge separate.

It's not a reprimand, you guys are doing very, very well, but the game is young and I just like to reinforce these concepts before they become issues.

You guys are moving quick. I feel like I missed a ton, and I've only been out for like half a day!

I'm sorry, should I slow my pace on the game? I don't want to alienate anyone, or have them feeling like they're missing major opportunities. If it's any consolation, you checking the notice board was what kinda propelled the events. ^_^

It's a good pace, I'm just not used to seeing a PBP run this quick.

I'm sure we have time to find a practicing mage that can divine what's on that note for you, it's paying her/him that might bring us to complications.

The note was just a curiosity thing, I'm not super stressing it.

I didnt piss off a major, he pissed me off, I was minding my own business and looking for jobs ... he was the one being a John!

Whoops. Hopefully I'll role higher next time I'm lying to the authorities.
Are we doing critical fails/success on skill checks? Some Gms do so I thought I woukd check.

I have an itchy trigger finger, I like to keep things moving. Besides, if players know I'm gonna keep it going, they're more likely to check in and try to post, right?

12.5 gp is the general going rate for that work if you're looking for a mage to cast Detect Magic. 25 gp if you want to really make sure with Identify. Of course your characters don't know this since none of them are mages. But I'm sure you guys could find the help pretty easily...
... he was the one being a John!

Fair enough, but in a non-module world, you get the explicit joys of finding a range of characters. Everyone from helpful, to surly, to those who will help, to those who will kill. And the fun of it for me is running all of those different personality types. ^_^

Nope, a 1 and a 20 are not immediate success or failures for skill checks. Although a nat 20 will break any illusion for the character who rolls it. Also, three 20's in a row on a single attack is an immediate death for your target. If you're unfamiliar, when you roll a 20 on an attack you crit, but then you have to roll again to confirm the crit. If you roll a 20 on the confirmation, you get one last free roll to see what happens. This roll won't help or hinder you, unless you roll a third 20... then the fun is seeing how I can justify you killing a stone golem with a bundle of straw.

No rush, I just woke up...

Yup. Just checking, because I've played with GMs who like to do crits on skills. As for super crits, I was playing a game where we got to the boss of the arc, and first turn I triple crited and killed her in on hit via impalation. With a staff. Made out of bacon. Best moment ever

Well, that would have been horribly anti-climatic.

As a note to the players, OPs have been updated with new information on the world, I suggest checking for the updates. Okay, it's not really all that important, but some stuff is there for the fun of it. Hmm.... I should keep a changelog eventually....

And yet another IC post has been made. A new Timestamp feature has been added. Hopefully this will help people out on a timeline. I'll see if I can backtrack and retcon it into other posts for y'all. Bounty Hunter, hope this helps. ^_^

So, 3000 hours is equivalent to midnight right? It's basically almost noon?

Parkun will go through those three ales, but not like shotgunning them all at once, he'll take his time with them. Other than that, he'll be idly chatting up the barkeep, who he's trying to make a good impression on with the tips.

Home, and catching up.

Edit : Is the West Gate the one we came in through?

@PS: Yes to the time, and I'll make note of your conversations.

@BH: Yes, you did.

@all: IC post on the way.... soon.... ish. Takes a while to make sure I get everything right.

@TankHammer -- Very nice, always good to have reference images!

So, I dunno if I missed parts of it during creation, but the only one I'm fairly sure of for a backstory is Parkun's. And even that's a little sparse, though sparse can be good. Allows me to flex their initial idea and run with it. Would everyone else please make a small backstory here for me to work with as well? If you've noticed, I've been including the drug concept from PlaneShaper's backstory, and I'd love to be able to work with the rest of yours as well. If I missed it somewhere, please just repost it for me here so I can find it easily. Thank you.

~SE++

Footnote:
Squinty Fun Fact #001: Did you know that there were no drugs planned for my world at all? I was actually planning on keeping my world drug-free, except for alcohol, right up until PlaneShaper added it into his backstory. So, any and all NPCs who die, and any and all violence or problems that arise from a drug cartel may be attributed to PlaneShaper! Huzzah, good going, you've created death in my world PlaneShaper, just by creating a character.

Squinty Fun Fact #002: The average lifespan of an adventurer is two week of In Character time. You guys were almost a smear on the floor after about one hour! Except I thought that a TPK (Total Party Kill) on Day 1 would have left a bad taste in player's mouths, and I do want my game to be a success. Oh well, I'm sure you'll make it at least two weeks. I mean, it's not like there's any dangers out there waiting for you, right?

Well, I didn't add the drugs, just the mob ;)

Especially since I still don't know what I got for using the Iron Fist method for stat generation!

Also, I don't know how you want to handle Parkun's drinking at a mechanical level. He has a CON score of 8 and has had three ales since we've entered the tavern with two more in line.

(1) See, I read "illicit goods" as drugs.

(2) It'll happen, just in due time. I need a reason to give you certain gifts, but you have someone /something / deity (?) looking out for you.

(3) The drinking isn't much to handle mechanically unless you get into combat while still drunk. Currently it's 16:40 in game time, and you're not expected at the Wall until 23:00 (about when night falls). Plenty of time to work off a few drinks.
