I think I have everyone's stated marching order correct? Deruvid said that he was following Rook. Let me know if you guys want to be checkerboarded along the hallway instead of in a straight line, and/or if you want space between yourselves, rather than front to back.

Torches give bright light in a 20 ft radius and project low-light to 40ft. The four squares down the adit furthest from Rook are currently in low light.

Dex saving throw equals... 1d20 ...+1 ? Or theres probably some crazy proffiency stuff in there somewhere.

You're a...Monk? Monks have proficiency with Dexterity saves, so you roll:

1d20 + Dex Mod + Proficiency Bonus.



Anyone who doesn't have proficiency with Dexterity saves, like Sunshine, only rolls 1d20 + Dex Mod.

2 traps and we haven't even gotten into the damn mine yet. Are you sure this was built for level 3's? lol.

It's a lot like 1e. It's very simplified.

Every d20 roll is a basic ability check. Want to make a melee attack with a battleaxe? That's a Strength check (attack). Want to think up some Arcane Lore? That's an Intelligence check (skill). Want to dodge out of the way of a Red Dragon's fiery breath? That's a Dexterity check (save).

So, anything you want to do with a d20 is reduced to rolling one of your 6 stats:
1d20 + Stat Mod

Then, if you're proficient with that thing, you add your proficiency bonus. Proficient with a battleaxe? Add your proficiency bonus. Proficient in Arcana? Add your proficiency bonus. Proficient in the art of nimbly and swiftly dodging (Dexterity saves)? Add your proficiency bonus.
1d20 + Stat Mod + (sometimes: proficiency bonus)

I'm actually a bit surprised they didn't make the proficiency bonus just equal to 1/2 level.


But, at it's core, the rule is — If you're not proficient, it's just 1d20 + Ability Modifier; if you are proficient, it's 1d20 + Ability Modifier + Proficiency Bonus.

Your bat needs a saving throw? I suppose if I'm supposed to be an evil DM while running this module, that's true, then.

Hmm...I should make a note on your icon on the map that you have a bat. That way *I* don't forget it, either. What's your familiar's name?

In any case, your bat makes it out alive, and it's mocking you as you lay on the ground prone. As for its own Critical Success, your bat gets a +2 bonus to its next initiative check.
