There are many times we could roll as part of a post without DS knowing about it beforehand

For example there might be reasons we should roll with disadvantage and we don't know about it. Other times something we do might grant us advantage. Sometimes we might even think we have advantage while the opponents can cause disadvantage making it a simple roll.

This should give DS more liberty without slowing the game.

You may feel free to roll twice, but make sure to do it twice (as in 1d20 and 1d20 rather than 2d20), but it doesn't really matter. If you roll twice thinking you have advantage but you also have disadvantage, I'd just take the first roll. If you roll once but you actually have advantage, I'll just roll again for you.

Not a lot of experience with 5e, by I don't remember a situation when a character had advantage/disadvantage and didn't know about that. I don't think we really need to double every roll we make.

Advantage and disadvantage in 5th edition...at least the way I read it isn' t only a meccanic risulting from the use of powers or specific actions. It can be granted by the master should he deem it right. For example whille using a particularly convincing lire or the opposite, searching for tracks in different types of terrain or doing something that gives advantage through a power of another class might under certain conditions work. There are many examples I can think of. Some of these could ne seen as use of the help action

Pretty much every situation I can think of can be accomplished by lowering the DC of the checks, which is a piece of information the DM doesn't share with us to begin with, and does not require us to double every single roll we make in the game (I'm assuming we're not talking about attack rolls, because we should know when we have adv/disadv on attack rolls based on the situation).

I'll do it if DS requires us to do it, but I really don't see a reason.

5e relies less on fiddly bonuses and penalties. That said, I have already spoken to the issue.

Yeah I hadn't thought of that, my last post was only an explanation of my proposal for felbatista. Actually your solution is much more linear, I am using the two dice rolling IRL as a master so that I keep my players guessing whether they have advantage disadvantage or none of the above

Done. Apparently, I can't read.

I'm ready to skip to sailing time, btw. Chen Wu will sleep inside the ship if possible, and will stick with everyone else if not.

I updated, but generally, I prefer some more explicit action rather than try to interpret what your characters do based on implied actions.

drvonwolfen, I saw your response to me. That's fine. The game you find can be in whatever form you'd prefer, but please be explicit about what you want to do in the future

Yeah I hadn't thought of that, my last post was only an explanation of my proposal for felbatista.
I was actually responding to felbatista. The way I am running 5e is that DCs are generally set and that's it, especially with bonded accuracy. Circumstantial bonuses or penalties are rolled together into advantage/disadvantage rather than considering various +2s and -2s to the roll or to the DC.

Also, Stone is saying he can drop you off where the road starts at the first bend in Gold River (map linked in my signature), or where the big tributary meets Gold River (and where Oshi starts).

I'm ok with skipping too. Just remember guys, that if you want to pretend that Chen Wu is the only one with the money, you have to give him your money before we meet with the captain.

Actually, that would defeat the purpose.

By all of us having cash, just hiding it, if they try to pickpocket or rob the one person showing cash, then all our funds aren't suddenly gone.

If we give all of our cash to one person and then that person shows money and gets jacked, then we still lose all the cash.

The whole point is to make it look like we have less money than we do. We need to settle up after we get off the boat so that Chen doesn't end up just covering all of us, but the whole goal is to limit our risk, not put all of our eggs in one basket. As long as Chen has enough to cover our fare, then we should be good.

EDIT: And now I see that you meant "Give Chen the amount it will take to cover your passage" not "give him all of your cash".

Sorry. Momentary idiocy.

Question: When she said 50 gold, that was not 50 gold each, correct? And do we know what she meant by "our own passes"?

Yes, I meant to give him only the money for the passage. If you guys gave him all your money, he would probably just run away during the night :P

Fine by me. I'll deduct 12.5gp from my stash.

Most likely travel papers for moving from region to region. We'll probably hit checkpoints every now and again that demand them.

Fel: Sai is handing over three of the strings of knife money to him, totaling 30gp. The extra is for paying for passes.
