K, well I'm at a loss of what to do. Bears are keeping us here. Goblins are keeping us here. Blegh.

Seriously though, Du'Tok and Leskyn can rip the door off its hinges and use it as cover if they keep their backs to the wall and then they can position themselves while the range fights cover. That's all I got. Encounter powers haven't recharged yet though, so it'll be a few minutes.

The characters seem to have lost a lot of motivation after taken a beating from a group of goblins. I cannot fault them for that.

If you need motivation, I will provide some.

I don't think using the bears against the goblins is a bad idea at all. Maybe we can use Dairon as bait. I do have a power that makes me invisible.

This is what I developed if you want to use the door as a shield.

- The carrier must be a medium or larger creature.
- The door weighs 100 lb., it is a medium object and the creature carrying will be considered as having a heavy load regardless of strength.
- The creature needs to use a standard action action every turn to keep the door as a makeshift barricade. The door can be discarded as a standard action.
- It will offer protection against ranged attacks (superior cover) for the carrier and two more adjacent creatures.
- The door will have this statistics: AC and Reflex 5, Fortitude 10 and HP 20. It will break when enough damage targeted at the players, miss them but they are enough to hit the door and reduce it to 0 HP.
- I will let you remove the door for free before the battle.

Warning!

I will move the game Saturday night (19:00 GMT -3). If you did not choose your actions until this timeline, I will move the characters and believe me when I say I will not pick the best option.
:evil:

Have our encounter powers recharged?

Yes, they already recharged. A short rest is enough.

OK - so, let's talk. I see a few options - I'm sure there are more:

1) Leave, fight the bears
2) Go through the door, fight the goblins
3) Try and lure the bears in, have them fight the goblins
4) Try and lure the goblins out, and ambush them

Any other ideas?

Here's what I propose:

1. Leskyn rips the door off its hinges.
2. Leskyn and Du'Tok move forward using the door as superior cover.
3. Dairon uses Eyebite to become invisible as he positions himself behind superior cover.
4. Marek "covers" for players from the door.
5. When Leskyn is close enough to an enemey, Du'Tok positions himself as marking said enemy, so Leskyn can drop the door (Standard Action) and the next turn use Pressing Strike to position himself favorably in the battle.
6. We target one enemy at a time, and prioritize not being flanked. This diminishes the enemy's damage output significantly. Staying clustered together and against the wall will help. This will also let Marek use his burst abilities without hurting other players.

@felbatista: you want to use Eyebite in particular against melee-based attackers, as they usually have low Will scores.
@Neosilk: DON'T RUSH INTO BATTLE!
@everyone: roll better...?

I don't think luring the bears in will work, since the cavern is littered with corpses already, there's little incentive for the bears to want more, livelier food. Threatening the bears has the potential to help us, but it's also likely they'll just attack us and then the goblins will attack us from the other side and run away when the bears are done killing us.

Thoughts?

I'm just reinforcing it, as it's a strategy that's working quite well in my campaign :)

Remember that I'll only be invisible after Eyebite to the target of the attack. We don't know how many goblins we'll be facing. You're plan looks solid, rst, but maybe we should discuss it some more. maybe we can use the door as a barricade to block the entrance, and Dairon and Marek can start attacking the goblins from distance. It's just that I think we'll be outnumbered, so using the confined space in our favor would be smart, knid of like in "300".

I'll also make sure to target the right dudes with Eyebite. Thanks for the tip.

Could we somewhat block the entrance with the door and spend a few rounds blasting them with whatever ranged attacks we have, then move in as rstnme said?

We also have to consider the possibility that the fight attracts the attention of the bears.

Without knowing the layout of the next room, we can only guess. Marek would have to occupy B1 and Leskyn and Dairon would have to be on total defense behind superior cover, which we won't be able to do anyway if they're right outside the door bc we can't occupy their squares so we won't be able to advance.

@T_B what's the penalty to rolls if we're behind superior cover utilizing ranged attacks?

@fel that would suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

No penalty if staying adjacent to cover for ranged attacks. For melee attacks, partial cover for both sides.

Perfect!

Posting IC, but I think using the door as a shield with Du'tok marking targets and Marek/Dairon blowing stuff up from behind is the way to go. Then Du'tok can take over melee with his defendering while Leskyn decapitates the enemies' ankles.

In there, we have 2 healers and Tovar has self healing. What works good in one situation, it isn't supposed to work in all situations. The ability to adapt is the key here.
