The Council's Downfall


The Council, a group of five men who wield great power over the city. Their votes alone have caused people to rise to power, as well as unseat others in positions of power and cause downfalls. They work with the Imperial Armies, always vigilant and ready to take action. You are part of a small unit of The Resistance, a group dedicated to cleansing the city of such evils. Your leaders have assigned you six, a small task-force to unseat three members of the Council and replace them with Resistance members. The only problem is that they have also warned you that your unit may have been infiltrated by at least one member of the Imperial Spies, and that they may try to sabotage your missions. They can only sabotage missions they are on, otherwise they would reveal themselves and be eliminated, so you must use this to your advantage.

Mission 1 - Councilman Joel


Councilman Joel is one of the worst on the Council, often allowing corporations that have their hands in drug trafficking as well as human trafficking to grow larger while shutting down laws that would benefit the city. He will be in the East District at a shady nightclub known as The Shocker where he will be enjoying the fruits of his labors in the form of high end call girls as well as copious amounts of synthetic cocaine. This is a two person mission, and all of the information you need will be uploaded to your COMM units when you approach the operation site. Please elect a two person task-force to go in and put Councilman Joel out of his misery.

The first Leader will be decided by a dice roll:

The Rules:

(1) Leadership will rotate based on the order everyone signed up.
(2) You have 48 hours to PM me your vote after a Leader has proposed a team, on whether or not the team should be allowed to go on the mission.
(3) Ties on mission proposals are failures.
(4) Five failed mission proposals fail the entire mission.
(5) Only one Fail is required for any approved mission team to fail the mission.
(6) If you are Resistance on an accepted mission, you must PM me a Success.
(7) If you are Spy on an accepted mission, you may PM me either Success or Fail.
(8) First team (Resistance or Spies) to reach 3 points wins.

(9) You may not quote your PMs from me.
(10) If I do not receive your vote on a mission team within the allotted time, it will be counted as a "No" and noted as a defaulted vote.
(11) Team proposals will be listed in the order I receive them, as well as who voted each way.
(12) Pass or Fail cards will not be revealed in a specific order and no names are given.

Fair warning, this game will include power roles, but they will not be made public, though those holding them may say what they are. Beware, it will not be beneficial to announce your role. The game will begin when everyone has checked in after receiving their role PM, at that time, the first Team Leader may propose the first two person team.

So, playing with roles, eh? So, this means we're either playing with at least Lancelot, Merlin or Oberon. Or some custom variant I don't know about.
I doubt it's Lancelot, because he's a backer promo and variant 1 and 2 is pretty lame if you don't make the reveal open. Variant 3 is contradictory to what Squinty said, because revealing yourself as Lancelot is often a beneficial move.

Squinty technically said roles, which would mean that only playing with Oberon isn't a possibility, although I don't know how much credibility there is behind that assumption. He's sort of an oddball. I certainly wouldn't mind if he's included though, as it makes winning a whole lot easier.

Which leaves Merlin and Assassin, which is necessary for Percival, Morgana and Mordred to be played, so the chance he's included is fairly high, although not absolute. All of this assumes there aren't any custom roles involved, of which I have no experience with.

Of course, Morgana and Percival will know if either of them are included, as well as Assassin and Merlin (Unless Merlin isn't included but Morgana is, in which case I propose a concession because that scenario is unwinnable), while Mordred and Assassin will also know if Merlin is included. So a lot of you could potentially know a bigger picture than I do.

Just to have everyone on the same page as I am. Assuming no custom roles, here are the options:
S-Merlin: Knows minions. Minions win the game if they correctly guess Merlin at the end of the game.
M-Assassin: Makes the final decision on whom to guess as Merlin.
S-Percival: Knows Merlin.
M-Oberon: Doesn't know his minion teammates. (Or the other way around. I can never remember.)
M-Morgana: Appears as Merlin before Percival. (In which case Percival knows two Merlins.)
M-Mordred: Doesn't appear before Merlin.

Lancelot, one Servant and one Minion
1: Minion Lancelot does not know his teammates. Each turn, a card is revealed, which may result in the Lancelots secretly swapping allegiance.
2: More or less the same, except Minion Lancelot must lay a failure card on his missions, and the card sequence is known in advance.
3: The two Lancelots know each other.

Alright folks.
We're in some dangerous times, and it looks like you are all willing to put your life on the line for our cause. That's great. Just great.
What we need is volunteers, and volunteers, volunteer first and that would be Aaarrrgh. Obiviously, seeing as this task was entrusted to me, I'll be going as well (that and we wouldn't want Joel's "company" to be disappointed). That is, unless we have any naysayers here?


I fully expect this mission to not pass for informations sake, but I feel that I will at least see what people say before auto-voting no :p

I always pictured you as more of middle management, and less of a trigger man. I'm happy that you're including yourself on this mission, but, I think you've been out of the game for too long. So, I'm going to say no on this, and see if we can get a more experienced team together

I don't know, I feel like it would be very hypocritical (and consequently, suspect) of me to reject it, as I retained my stance on the subject throughout the entirety of the last game.
The only thing we achieved in the first round was Shockwave throwing us a curveball and NeoSilk looking like my partner in crime for agreeing with said opinion.

Of course, if anyone has any legitimate arguments, I'm all ears.

Yeah - in the last game, there was info from the discussions on D1, but not really from who picked whom for the D1 missions.

So, let's talk...he says, realizing that he has nothing else to talk about.

If this team does work, I think we have to call it the A-team...

It's always difficult the first round, because nobody has any reads to really reject for. But if you reject it you get to see what other people choose.

I would be all for us rejecting the missions 1 through 4 just to see whom other players choose, BUT at the same time (suggesting/rejecting missions for that reason) we don't get as accurate reads because people won't put the same "effort" into it, if you know what I mean. Like, there's a different mindset when you expect something to not pass, versus when you want something to pass.

The A-team is secretly the reason I picked this team over using a random number. My IC reason was just IC blubber :p

Well, we can always discuss which roles are used. Say, if anyone wants to claim Percival, and tell us if Merlin or Morgana is in play.
We'll need a topic if we're going to reach any opinions about each other, and I'm not really sure if there's a whole lot else to talk about.

While I would love to claim a role, I have none to claim.

Right now, there are two reasons to decline the mission.
1) To extend the time before the first mission to increase the conversation.
2) With the addition of power roles, there might be something we can get by looking back at who picked whom. But, I think that's doubtful.

Either way, I think that #1 is enough of a reason to decline this mission, which is what I'm currently planning on doing, simply to allow for more discussion time. The only reason not to decline it now, is in case someone posts something that changes my mind.
