Much like the classic Sega title this game is based on, this game will have a branching storyline based on the events of the day, which will determine roles. Every cycle, a set of up to three missions will be presented to the town. One that favors the town, one that favors the mafia, and, depending on the state of the game, one that favors neither. One of those missions must be completed by the end of the day phase. There will be a maximum of five cycles.
Alongside that, one player will be given the role of Shadow the Hedgehog. This player will be unaligned with any faction, and has the possibility to win with any faction. Alongside that, Shadow will have extra knowledge and secret abilities that will allow him to have an upper hand in choosing his path, though he can't completely control the train. The path this game follows will determine what team Shadow joins at the end of the game.
After all five day phases have passed, one team will clearly have the advantage, and the Endgame will begin. Whichever team Shadow has not joined will grow massively in power, and the game will enter a Boss Battle. During a boss battle, the game will be in Sudden Death, as a certain objective determined by the boss fight chosen must be completed to win the game.
There will more than likely be bastard elements in this game, so be warned of that fact.

Three posts will be required per day phase. If a player fails to meet this two day phases in a row without discussion with a mod, they will be replaced or nightkilled.

Shadow the Hedgehog airdrops into Westopolis, thinking back on what the alien who had referred to himself as "Black Doom" had said to him. "Shadow... As you can see, the day of reckoning will soon be here. Find the SEVEN Chaos Emeralds and bring them to me as promised." As he looked around the destroyed city, the meaning of "Day of Reckoning" was all too clear. But who made that promise? Was it him? He couldn't remember. Continuing down the destroyed freeway, he noticed a familiar-looking blue blur attacking a small army of approaching aliens. Shadow huffed to himself - not even fast enough to beat that damned other hedgehog. Typical. But, at the same time, Shadow felt as if he was being watched. Turning towards the feeling, he notes a large, ebony creature similar to a starfish floating next to him, with a massive black eye in the center of it. "Shadow.... the promised day has come. You know what you must do....." Shadow shook his head. He had no idea what was going on, but he couldn't do nothing. And he knew there was a chaos emerald somewhere in the city..... no matter what, it looked like he had to go in there.
STAGE 01: Westopolis DARK MISSION: Annhialate the GUN forces! (Lynch a villager) NORMAL MISSION: Find the Chaos Emerald! (No-lynch, or lynch a third party player) HERO MISSION: Drive off the black creatures! (Lynch a mafioso)
STAGE 1 ENDS AT 10PM PDT ON WEDNESDAY 7 OCTOBER, 2020 With 15 alive, 8 is majority.

Missions look pretty straightforward. It might be better to aim for the neutral mission this early on. Unless mafia really screws up, we don't have much chance of killing one d1, so by avoiding a lynch, we would be denying them a point.
Anyways, I am excited, but also very sleepy, so I will be back tomorrow.
Cool. I'm planning uphold a general No Lie Policy again. Is my natural inclination anyway, so might as well make it official. This means I will not ever make any outright lies about any aspect of this game other than my own alignment (and I will only lie about my alignment if it's necessary to protect my team). I can (and probably will) deflect, mislead, and omit information, but everything I say will be at least technically true (which is the best kind of truth, anyway).
Now that this poll is officially over, it's time to congratulate Aaarrrgh for designing Hill, which has been decided by popular vote to be the Card of the Month for October 2013!
It entirely depends on the amount of information town can gather without lynches. Assuming town has no useful info D1, no lynch is better than random lynch. However, there must come a point where information density is high enough that lynch is better (not to mention necessary to avoid scum majority). There's no easy way to determine when we reach that point, though. And since town info roles should avoid going public early, we will probably not know. N1 results will help us figure things out.
That said, we should not push through a quick NoLynch, because conversation is also information. If we're not going to get lynch info, we need every bit of alternative info we can get.

at the moment given that we know next to nothing, a nlynch is the most likely pro- or neutral- town outcome for the day im just waiting for more people to have an opportunity to participate and hopefully have more info
on another note, since oc chat is allowed i suspect a decent amount of this game will be occurring in those oc chats i welcome any and all contacts, but probably won't be starting any myself

It's not a game. I'm not a robot A.I. challenging you.

Zinger209908 you are in a better position than you were before KoD saved you from yourselves you should thank him before he kills himself with his hail marry here

shadowamber you gotta admit the bus gifs were kinda funny though
I don't like a lot of hidden information (thus the NLP), so I will not instigate any OC chats unless I feel I have a very good reason to do so. Will still participate if invited by someone, of course.

The game is afoot. Events will unfold no matter what now.

no-lynching will probably favour scum, though its questionable whether or not it will favour scum more than lynching will.
We'll hopefully have more to go off of by the end of the day, but tentatively I'm thinking it will be better to lynch. If this is anywhere close to a traditional mafia game (which it seems to be) then we'll need to find the mafia team using, in combination with other things, reads, and the day 1 lynch is an invaluable resource for generating those.
Denying the scum team a point seems like it might be comparatively lower value, although so little is known about the setup that its basically guesswork.

I suggest we experiment with that while we still have a solid chance
VOTE: RUBIK
I have reason to believe that Rubik is, in fact, Shadow. Actually, unless my role PM lied to me, I know it for a fact. As per the game rules he would currently be unaligned and join either us or Maf after day 5, simultaneously powering up.
My present belief is that he probably won't actually die before the turn, which would be more informative than a proper no-lynch. Or, if he does, it would likely fizzle the turn and render this a more normal game of mafia which would be more in-control for the town, who really don't need the maf to spontaneously get a member if doing well or buff if poorly. But I think the former result is more likely. If we lynch Shadow now, we're in a good place.

@rag: As I said previously, it all depends on if there are alternative info channels (although arguably OC chats is extra info, so we know that exists). I have long argued that in unknown setups (especially when we don't know how many/what kind of power roles exist) a D1 lynch could possibly bring less useful info than not lynching. I don't have enough data to know if it's true, but since this game has extra incentive to avoid mislynches, I think at least a single no lynch could be worth it.
However, again, only if there's enough discussion D1 to get us something to look back on. If there's not a good amount of talk when we get closer to deadline I'm totally ready to change tracks and lynch someone.
Ninja edit: well, that's interesting. Looking forward to seeing what reaction this gets.
