I guess that's fine. I just have one final thing to say to KoD:

In the event that I die tonight instead of you, I want you to seriously reconsider your viewpoint on Scar. Scum went out of his way to save scar from being lynched. Scar was very comfortable being killed at night but vehemently opposed being lynched during the day. Look back on the events of day 3 with the perspective that scum is scar and see if things really don't add up.

I expect the game will likely end here though.

I balanced the game to be a bit town-sided, but I tried to leave enough room that scum could win with strong enough WIFOM.

If Neo had actually gone with his original (at least claimed) plan to target Scarlet and scum had decided to actually kill someone last night (rag or kod, ideally) the situation would have been niklor (+1 vote), garren (wins ties), zinger (out of abilities), kod/rag (either a single day kill or a one day vote block). From that board position, scum could have probably taken the game. I think the game ended up being a lot closer than it felt like it was.

I haven't designed many mafia games and I've never designed a game of this scale, so please let me know what aspects of the game you liked and disliked and your thoughts on the balance of the game.

As many as 9 players could have been killed before N2. The game only requires 6 kills to make day 1 LyLo.

sadism and don't mess with this guy strike me as overtuned.

there were also too many investigative roles, once people with results start getting results on each other, the chain becomes hard for scum to break.

@Rubik, I enjoyed your design, though I agree with Rag the number of killing roles was very high with no guaranteed counterbalance. Some of the abilities were a little convoluted. My own third ability I had to read three to four times before I finally understood how it worked (perhaps, you could argue, this was my own fault, but still). Some of your abilities designed showed quite a bit of innovation, and in fact a couple inspired me in my own game designs, so kudos for that. I'm glad you tried to balance this to be town-heavy because if you hadn't I believe town would have absolutely lost.

@KoD, your behaviour on Days 1 & 2 on several occasions was quite deplorable. Many of your attacks were filled with veiled insults that at best was slightly disrespectful to the person you were directing your attacks at, and at worst were downright insulting (and I don't just mean the few directed at me here). In my opinion, you were fully in breach of some of NGA's CoC on more than one occasion. Now, I understand that Mafia can be a game where things get heated so a lot of times people are willing to let that go, but when nearly every one of your attack posts are directed at defaming an individual's personal characteristics rather than focusing on elements of the game I think that's going too far. After Day 3 things mellowed out a bit, and the directions of your attacks seemed to take a turn for being more grounded in the elements of the game than personal attacks (or maybe I just noticed them less because you were focusing on me instead of others and I don't so much care if someone wants to insult me). I'm not voicing this to start a flame war with you, I am voicing this so you can consider my position and perhaps think before you post in the future. If you would like direct quotes of some of your more questionable remarks that I feel breach the CoC, I'll be happy to provide, otherwise I'm willing to leave it at that.

I also feel like it was a fun/good setup. I do question why the scum team didn't use their night kills...feel like it could have gone differently had they really pushed the normal kills.

I talked about it briefly during the game, but I found KoD's attacks excessively harsh and hurtful at times. There have always been mafia players like that, or so I've found. Its a part of the game that I have learned to deal with, and wouldn't think less of anyone for behaving that way during a game.

It is a game that to some extent encourages that kind of behaviour. All the more reason for players to show off their maturity by not engaging in petty insulting matches (which ultimately do derail the game). The NGA CoC clearly has rules banning such behaviour, so why do we turn a blind eye to it in a mafia game?

That being said, I don't want to derail this thread with this topic (sorry Rubik). I'll start up a thread in the general PbP section to discuss it.

I personally enjoyed the game. The choice of roles gave me an option for how I wanted to play (big or protect or try and direct things during the day). The number system I feel helped to keep balance even though I never ran into it using my abilities. Day and night lengths were perfect as was the option to end day early. I did not mind the no lynch on majority thing.

I think the day was too long, and that helps inaction. I have the same opinion about the order of votes as the tiebreaker. It also helps inaction, because people doesn't need to make a stand. Those are only minor complaints though.

All other points were good in my opinion. But I also did not have any chance to use them. So my opinion in this matter may not have a lot of weight.
