Times can get tough sometimes. You lost your job at WholesomeTechCorp and went from living in a medium sized apartment to a medium sized cardboard box under a bridge. Acid rain and zombie bird poop stained your hair after you moved into a post-apocalyptic Canadian ghetto. Things were really bad, The Computer Mutt, Mafia Aligned Conditional Don-Blocker. You even forgot to buy ornaments.

But one day you got lucky. For tons of money, you were offered a chance to sell The Source to big data and join the corporate masters that rule the world. Now you are mafia with PariahKing played by King of Dominaria, and Lt. Ripper played by Tevish Szat. Together your mission is to destroy the town and create a world where profits reign supreme and privacy is dead.

Because you’re generally a good person and not someone suspected of evil, your default status is to appear as town in investigations. However, you may choose to don a black hat and roleblock a player of your choice each night. If you do so, you will instead appear to be mafia in investigations.

2. PariahKing - KoD

You were once the most evil, unkillable being in the world (as long as you were online). You are...were the evil PariahKing, Mafia Aligned Terminator. But one day you finally found someone who could defeat you: PariahKnows. She deleted you from existence and became a gentler, kinder person.

Well she doesn’t know what she’s missing! The sheer power, endless vengeance...how could she give it up for some nail polish and peace?!

Of course you saw this potential hazard coming - you scanned and uploaded your brain into a machine intelligence that would time travel to the future upon your destruction and then prevent the events that lead to your self-demise. Now the King will rise once more.

Because of your proximity to the disgusting PariahKnows, Town Aligned Happy Person, you can pretend to be her. In all role name investigations you appear to be her instead of the wicked terminator PariahKing. You have her ability as well:

As a now much happier and less homicidal person, you now try to lift others up. You have a one shot ability you can use during the day. Post Feel Better: X, with X being the player’s name. That will rise the player from the dead. (You can only raise town aligned people with this ability.) They will be raised from the dead with the same role name and alignment, and this will be confirmed with a mod post declared to be “Beyond the Veil of Bastardry” and 193% to be mod confirmed true.

However, there’s still something in it for you - after you do this, the town will be lured into a false sense of security. At night, you may select a player of your choice and go out and terminate the living shit out of them. An eye for an eye and life for a life, as they say. This will not be considered the mafia kill but an additional unrelated kill. If this kill attempt fails, you will get one additional final chance to carry it out before people are too guarded for it to work.

3. LT RIPPER - Tevish

You are Lt. Ripper, Mafia Aligned Combatant. You grew up in an ambiguous army that was given substandard weapons of warfare. Mostly paperclips.

You survived however and have become a specialist in 1 on 1 deathmatches. Each day, you can pick another player and type CHALLENGE: X. For the rest of the day, only you and the other player can be voted for lynching. This ability does not work Day One.

Using this ability near the end of a deadline extends a sufficient amount to allow other players to react to it.

Each night you may target a player of your choice and throw a paperclip at them. This does nothing.

You fellow mafia members are PariahKing played by King of Dominara, and The Computer Mutt played by Quicksilver Johny.

4. QJ - Fred

Who’s faster than Quicksilver Johny, Town Aligned Bodyguard?

Anyway, one per night you can target one player, and protect them from harm with your lightning quick reflexes.

5. NAGA - Rubik
A horrific beast of nightmarish proportions, the all-mighty Naga, Town Aligned Naga cannot be stopped. His vicious snake-man like body can pulverize anyone within his grasp. Each night he can select a victim and viciously constrict them, roleblocking them.

This cannot however stop the nightly mafia kill because Naga is pro-violence.

If you and another roleblocker both target each other, you have roleblocking priority due to your vicious nature.

You win with the town.

6. Vanessa - CL

You are Vanessa, Town Aligned Psychologist. Having been a retired ninja, you’re good at analyzing brains of potential killers.

Each night, you can examine someone’s skull*. This weirdly helps you understand one of three things:

Negative: The target player is unable to actively kill OR has already done so.

Positive: This player can kill, but has not done so.

No Result: Unable to obtain information.

7. FONZ - RAG
Eyyy mofos, it’s The Fonz! Yeah, you are The Fonz, Town Aligned Bad Influence. Everyone wishes they could be you.

Anyone who hangs out with you (targets you at night) will be seen as a Bad Guy in any kind of investigations from now on, regardless of other modifiers. You also appear to be a Bad Guy in investigations. You’re just too much of a menace to society. (Maybe you shouldn’t have jumped that shark.)

8. MoD - Naga
You are MoD, Town Aligned Tester. You are really obsessed with eating ass. You’re too timid to go up to random people and ask, “Can I eat your ass?” so instead you spent all your time learning tech and building a machine that could tell you with a margin of error of 1% what someone’s ass tastes like.

Each night you may target a player and analyze them with the Ass-O-Matic 3000. It will non-invasively analyze what the flavor of their ass would be, and print out the information on a piece of paper for you.

9. Shady - Amber
Y ou’re ShadyPhoenix, Town Aligned **** of All Trades. You really know what to say in every situation (that hurts someone’s feelings). As a result, you are multifaceted.

You have the following abilities. They are all one shot night abilities.

Ego Death: Your words are so mean, a player of your choice will go to cry alone in the woods. They will be roleblocked and unable to take night actions, but also protected from death that night. You cannot target yourself.

Over the Edge: You insult someone so much they decide they can no longer live and throw themselves off a cliff. This kill is so strong that it even overrides doctor protections and roleblocks.

Forced Confession: You can verbally accost a player until they tell you who they targeted that night, if anyone - essentially tracking them for that night. (They don’t remember telling you because it’s so traumatic.)

Bookie: This isn’t an insult. You just feel like gambling. At night, you can guess who will be lynched the next day - if you’re correct, you regain all expended abilities. You can only use this once.

You prefer the town to be victorious

10. TOWLIE - argh
You are Towlie, Town Aligned The One.

After being unable to score a job with PariahCorp, you decided to instead smoke a bunch of weed. Each night, you may get high. When you get high, you receive a minor random effect the next day.

You have smoked so much weed that you have unlocked the powers of reality and realized the world an illusion.

You may end day one at any time by choosing a player of your choice and having them executed. The town may choose to revoke your status as The One by having 9 people vote for a Vote: Recall. Day one can only end with a post-lynch recall or The One choosing someone to die. This paragraph of information will be public knowledge.

11. A Drunk Owl - Zinger

You are A Drunk Owl with Diabetes.

Each night you need insulin. If you don’t get insulin you will feel bad.

There is no insulin in the game, so you started it stealing it from pharmacies.

The police don’t like you. If they investigate you they will beat you to death.

You win with the town.

12. Zerg - NeoSilk

You are Zerg0nator, Town Aligned Murderous Insect Person. When you started out on The Source, you were a man. Then a bunch of bugs controlled under a mysterious collective kidnapped you, put you in a chrysalis, then you were turned into a sexy and scary bug queen lady person.

As you have an entire army of insects at your command, you can select a player each night. They are brutally ripped to pieces, killing them.

Your goal is to bun the mafia. Godspeed.

I actually made a mistake. Originally the game had only one investigation role, which was a cop journalist based on Shady. When I edited the game, I forgot to update Zingers role. So he was supposed to be murdered by CL's role, but I had failed to remember it was no longer flavored like the cops. So functionally he was vanilla town because I forgot to change the wording of his role. The alternative was to let all investigations kill him, which I felt was unfair. But yeah the increase in sign ups made me make a mistake, which I apologize for.

Edit: mechanically cls role is the closest to a real cop role.

The design was very townsided because usually Px2 meta is very scum favored

Yes, Shadow Amber is correct. For example Lt Rippers butt tasted like heavily processed and preserved foods because he is a soldier and they eat mainly MREs. Owl would have given rats, Zerg would have been raw flesh.

The rest would have come from the food and drink discord of the source, where the last food would have determined the flavor. That and the rather blatantly disgusting nature of the role was why it was assigned to Naga. Naga is in on the "joke" where eating ass is a meme on The Source.

Aarghs role part 2 was meant to sort of be the flipside of the one - the many. Making many vanillas, which served as a bad role doc for rag and zinger as well. He never used it but he could split vote as well.

The flavor of the game was intentionally inconsistent because The Matrix isn't real, just like the game. That and only naga and qj knew the flavor, making it simple would have made the game unplayable for everyone else. So that was why flavor was random.

Mechanically the game features low power roles that are mostly confusing more than bastard. Rags role is probably bastard enough to say I may have needed a more specific pregame disclaimer, but I generally consider miller to be an accepted part of the metagame and not unfair.

More than anything I want to say thank you to everyone who played (and hello world who was a great sport about CL gate), I had a wonderfully fun time and I appreciate you spending your time on my game. It's a special thing we can all get together and play still sometimes. It really helped me a lot while I've been depressed and immobilized.

As depressing the end is for the town, The One gate was really cool and we even got a day 1 scum lynch with great llay by aargh and zinger. That amount of discussion was crazy and most of the game that got played.
