But I did get the clarification needed, and I think I can safely join the pact if I want to. I'm just very cautious about making promises in general.

Conditioning your promises on alignment facts is almost certainly pointless. It may be possible to identify classes of behavior that are more or less likely to be exhibited by scum and non-scum respectively, and then to extract promises limiting those behaviors precisely, but even this has some obvious limits, e.g. "I promise not to converse out of thread" essentially pertains directly to alignment (and was considered non-binding in the last game).

I had been under the impression after our first game that someone would explode or be modkilled if they broke a promise, and I was disappointed to find out that that wasn't true.

Still, I'm curious about SIlverfish's role that prevents him from just auto joining the pinky promise that Fext proposed. IMO its a pretty NAI pinky promise - either I'm town and it doesn't apply, or I'm mafia and I'm just going to ignore it.

Clearly we have an opportune moment here. A moment to push the envelope of what it means to make a pinky promise with another. All we need to do is be upfront with everyone and barrage the heck out of each with aemidecent promises.
