First off consider that the results saying the cult attempt failed last night could be lie in of its self. Either from zinger or numbers.

Numbers story is he was targeted last night and is still town. That he knows the cult didn't ncrease last night. Saying a cult attempt failed on him is him soft claiming he's cult leader, and just cover for the real cult attempt.

Your trying to say that if cult isn't allied with mafia, it must be town, and there isnt even a cult anyway because the game would be lost and the cult attempt had mod confirmed failed targeting you.

The cult doesnt have to be Town OR Dethy aligned, it could be cult aligned. Maj rules maybe dont apply this game if the culting mechanic has a sanity issue with identifing other members they dont want to lynch other cult so they soft claim.

If there was a cult which wasn't aligned with either of the known alignments, that would put this game so far into Bastard territory that I would quit on the spot. Especially since Monster was specifically told that being culted meant winning with Dethy. Also, JD didn't say he was the target of a failed cult attempt, he said he was fake culted. As in he was culted but he's certain the cult is fake. Which it would have to be, because otherwise the cult would have already won.

This is the second game you've played in a row where you've suggested you might quit on the spot because you deemed something to be "unfair". Because I don't want to see that become a trend for you, I just want to point out that's rather unsportsmanlike behaviour.

I will neither confirm nor deny the allegations made by any of the players toDay, but repeatedly threatening to quit a game should one such allegation prove true is unhealthy for our meta and should be discouraged.

I would consider putting a cult in a dethy game without warning unsportsmanlike behavior. Likewise, I definitely consider extending a game past the actual end point just to mess with the players unsportsmanlike. If I sign up to play Dethy, I expect to play a game that at least vaguely resembles Dethy. Having a secret third faction would create a game which does not in any way resembles Dethy. Game runners repeatedly subverting the expectations of their players in order to be clever is also unhealthy for the meta.

Zingers initial line in the sign up post is tongue in cheek about this being a serious game, thus we are pre-warned that this won't be a serious standard dethy match. As for last game, while we did play at the game still being on going, we were direct in telling the players multiple times the game was in fact over. I would pose that it was, in fact, a healthy lesson for players to not get too wrapped up in their tunnel visions.

As for the game at hand, Aaarrrgh is right in that I did not claim to be a failed culting. I'm claiming I was told I was culted and do not believe it to be an actual alignment change since the game hasn't ended. I think today is just going to hinge on what monster decides she believes.

That post also lists all of the characters present in the game, and none of them is a third party cult. There's a difference between hiding info and straight up lying to the players.


How is following the instuctions of the game mod being "too wrapped up in their tunnel visions"? The only lesson I'm getting from all of this is that the game mods in this community cannot be trusted. I was very clear about my frustrations in that game, and I was actually extremely hesitant to sign up for this one, because I honestly am starting to feel like the games that are being played here are mainly for the designers and mods to amuse themselves, with little regard for if the players actually enjoy the games or not.

The only player that's claimed anything about a third party cult is JDCD (CL), whom you know is going to lie to you. He also did so in a post where he incorrectly attributed information other people claimed, furthering that he's lying to get somebody else lynched instead of himself.

Whose ability it is does not matter for determining if the ability was bastard or not.

I wouldn't say bastard qualifies here. We are told in the OP JDCD has abilities designed to confuse us into lynching the wrong target. Them having an ability that reads "target player is told they are culted and they will win if you do" both functions as stated (they are just told and not actually culted) and meets the criteria spelled out to the rest of the players (they think they are playing to their win con by lynching team players when that is actually the wrong player to lynch).

Honestly it's probably the optimal move. If I'm right and we aren't real cult, it's in our favor. If I'm wrong and we are real cult there's a slight chance we lose here but there's also a slight chance we go to tomorrow and just have to lynch Aaarrrgh for the W. I'm a gambling man so I'm going to take that chance.
