Zinger broke a promise. Either that or the mafia have a super kill which pierces protection, but I find that less likely than Zinger accidentally breaking a promise.

What about you. You had made a promise with Zinger, but then someone cut off your pinky. Is it possible that negatively affected him or his promises in some way?

Also, I want to be real clear. There are some things in life that are hard facts. What goes up must come down. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The sky is blue.

Among those is that Zinger doesn't lie. By proxy, Zinger won't break his promises. Him being town is a definite indication of that. So what I'm having a hard time reconciling is how you failed to protect him when, by your own words, you can still protect someone who hasn't willfully broken a promise.

For the record, I made a promise to Zinger to defend him against anything and everything until both he and I were dead no matter what. That's about as close to the wording as I remember it off hand.

Him being dead doesn't mean I'll stop defending him. That's why I'm commenting on, and defending, him wrt to breaking promises. Because he doesn't. Certainly not as town. I'd even go so far as to say he wouldn't as mafia as breaking a promise would be no different than lying, and Zinger doesn't lie.

i've kind of been soft claiming this entire game believe it or not
my role makes me (mechanically) break every promise i make regardless of whether i follow through; i don't think i am interested in breaking a promise hence i will not be making any

his nlp was in effect
defend kod until death
unless i missed one (which is very possible) i don't think he's broken one (publicly), and seeing as he flipped town id be inclined to believe that he wouldn't have broken one out of thread if given the option

id guess we're looking for 2 mafia, 13/4 is a bit over 3 and 2 self 2 mafia sounds about right

Good question. One that would necessitate the need for an explanation in order for the premise to be true. I'd have to assume, then, that scum got around your protection somehow. That could manifest in any number of ways as you've already started pointing out.

Course, and this is what gets me, why were you dismissive earlier of a strongman effect for the kill? Or whatever it is that they call it. The super kill that ignores one layer of protection or any protection. Why think that is not likely at all compared to Zinger breaking a promise? Why assume a redirector? Roleblock I could believe, except no one has come forth with any indication of such which, honestly, makes that suggestion less likely.

And with Amber's, reasonable, claim I am more than convinced about Monster's guilt.

Honestly, what did it for me was the gloating.

I just assumed if my ability failed it was most likely because the conditions for it to work had not been met. I hadn't taken into account Zinger's NLP. Given, as you say, the likelihood of him breaking a promise willingly is next to none, I'd now change that stance to sooner assume something else happened.

Two doctors also makes the presence of a strongman probably more likely, I suppose.

I'm used to roleblocks being told they were blocked, which is why I'd sooner believe strongman or redirector here, but then that might not be a standard thing here I realize.

A role that says "I break all promises automatically" is a convenient fake claim for a scum player to make...
