One-Eye sits silent for a few seconds before sighing again and beginning to speak in a voice not his own; resonant and ancient and powerful.
"A Silver Lord with silvered tongue will ride on Amarath.
A Dark Lord with cunning mind will fall before his wrath.
A blinding rain, two worlds he rends,
All are slain, the host descends,
shadows held rapt, the angels weep,
the dead are trapped, denied their sleep,
But Silvers plans may fall apart,
for the Dark still hides his cities heart."

The words stop and One-Eye collapses forward into a shuddering pile seeming many times smaller then he was mere moments ago.

Kronos
takes a step towards One-Eye, being careful not to cross the circle of protection. "One-Eye, what was that?"

It takes One-Eye time to stop shaking and more time still before he answer. "I... do not know. It been here with me, inside my head, for weeks now. The same voice over and over and over and louder and louder and louder every waking moment never ceasing never stopping." The man cries out, raising his hands to is head as he tears his claws across it, causing a thin stream of blood to stain his robe. "I can't sleep chronomancer. In my dreams I hear it louder then ever. Can't you hear it too? You have the sight as well do you not? Does it not haunt your dreams and follow you to the waking world?" The wizard curls into a heap in the center of the circle and falls silent for a moment. "Leave me Kronos. Don't make me leave. I don't want to go out there - I don't want to know what is happening. What is going to happen. Let me stay here in the dark. Let me sleep."

One-Eye looks over at you without saying a word. Slowly he uncurls himself and raises from the floor. His hands stretch out and arcs of energy ripple between his fingers. "It broke me Kronos. It will break you too." He moves slowly to the edge of the circle and and raises his hands to your head, a slight wave of energy rippling across you as he makes contact. "Close your eyes child. Focus on the cadence."

A sudden pain brings you from the vision. One-Eyes claws dig into your flesh, cutting the skin and drawing blood. The mage himself seem paralyzed, his muscles twitching, his eye bulging, his face twisted into a horrible grimace somewhere between fear and ecstasy. Silently he speaks something - either he makes no noise or you can not hear him. He shudders violently and releases your head collapsing backwards with a dull thud, his body falling limp as he hits the floor. As the silence that has afflicted you washes away you swear for but a moment in the back of your mind you heard a haunting note play out before it is drowned. You stand alone in One-Eyes home.

"O...kay?" Kronos says, as he wipes the blood from his brow. "Hold that thought."

Kronos
vanishes once again in a puff of smoke and quickly exits the building with only seconds to spare before retaking his regular form, with awesomely-placed "BAMF" sound effects.

"Sorry about the delay. Also, I may have killed One-Eye. It's okay though, he was old. And insane. And a rat. Plus, I got what we needed anyway. But just in case I missed something, be right back! And don't torch the building."

"BAMF!"

And Kronos is back in the room. "Now where were we?..."

Looking on in confusion as the wizard bamfs in and out, "well that was bloody helpful. Would it have killed him to elaborate more."

Turning to Jastor and then nodding in the direction of the crowd, Alladar growls in frustration. "You have more experience with the mob then me, do they look a tad restless to you? Reckon we should be concerned?"

Kronos

A gust of wind flies out the doorway of One-Eye's hut, and "BAMF" materializes into Kronos before your eyes. "I have what we need. Time is of the essence. Let us make haste back to the skiffs before the locals learn what happened to their leader." Kronos starts making his way towards the skiffs, motioning for Vanya to follow, and holding an outstretched arm for Knave.

Jastor keeps his eyes on the growing crowd as he mutters a quick response to Alladar in regards to further cryptic commentary from Kronos. "Heh. It seems that because he thinks himself unhindered by time that its perfectly fine that he waste it with his every action. " The guardsman shakes his head slightly and sighs.

"We're at a bit of a disadvantage here tactically. A show of force is likely to disperse the crowd, but if the rabble has been made aware of whatever's going on in side they may be fevered into resisting. Should we leave this spot we also open ourselves up to be flanked if they make for the house. If you've got a spell you'd prefer to hurl, by all means, but for now it suits me best to wait on the foe to make the move to me."

Looking at the mob for a moment longer, Alladar shakes his head and turns back to the skiffs. "Nah, i wont waste a useful combat spell on dross unless its necessary, unlike wizards i cant afford to throw them away. Lets get back to the boats and leave, ill take up the rear and hit them with a spell if they become too curious."

"Agreed."

The guardsman leads the group back to the skiffs, keeping an eye out for trouble for the whole way. Once they've reached the small crafts he stands guard on the dock while the others pile into their respective boats then, slowly, climbs aboard himself. This time he keeps both his shield and his blade unslung and readily available.

Kronos

Arriving at the skiffs, Kronos immediately sets to work carving the Mark of One-Eye into the bow of each skiff. Then, just for the sake of being thorough, he takes a few generic spell components from his pouch and ingrains them into the carvings so that they might generate a very faint magic aura. "That should do it." Kronos said, finishing up marking the skiffs and climbing into one with Vanya.

Raising an eyebrow at the remark, Kronos states "My boy, you should know by now that there is very little in this world that I am not sure of. That being said, if it will appease your fears, I suppose I can take a quick jaunt into the future and find out..." Kronos closes his eyes and focuses on the task at hand.

Eyes jolt open, Kronos looks at Jastor, "Nothing! Satisfied?" Kronos gets into a boat with Vanya and starts rowing in the direction of the tunnel that leads towards the Lake.

With passage out of this dismal sewer-city finally within their grasp the skiffs carrying the adventures set out across the calm waters of the reservoir. Looking back at the shore the figures that had watched them from the shadows are now slowly emerging from their holes with many making their way into One-Eye's building while the rest watch your departure from the shore. It takes only a moment before the shouts begin to ring out and cries of rage and vows of vengeance drift across the water - though they as well be fond farewells for all those on the shore can do to prevent your departure.

As your skiffs approach the far side of the water they begin to pick up speed, caught by the current and pulled towards the dark tunnels that - should everything you have assumed be true - will lead you out of the city and onto Lake Tala. As you approach the mouth of the tunnel you notice the marks and scratches adorning the bow of your vessels begin to glow faintly and, seemingly in response, so too do the rocks at the mouth - careful study would have revealed them to be covered in lines and markings similar to the ones adorning your boats. There is no time for study however as, no sooner had your boats passed some invisible line, something rises from the water - some great beast hidden in the dark waters.

As you ready your weapons and spells for battle you hear panicked yells to your sides; the vessels bearing Garnet and Vigo sunder beneath them with a loud crack and, finding themselves suddenly without purchase, they plunge into the water - and in response the beast beneath the waves lunges forward, great tentacles coiling around where the boats once where and make a show of crushing the already scuttled vessels. You're sure it makes for a great display from those watching from the shanty town.

Any effort to aid your companions are somewhat futile. In the passing moments since they fell your own boats have passed into the tunnel and increased in speed considerably as the water suddenly flows at a sharp decline. Though the tunnel quickly evens out and the water again becomes calm you find the others beyond your reach - you can do little but hope they have survived the events and can fend for themselves. You are left in silence as the boat drifts through the tunnel until, some thirty minutes later, you round a slight bend and light appears before you. You have finally made it out of Amarath.

Chapter 0 - End

Everyone receives 30,000 EXP. You have reached Level 10.

Chapter 1

As previous expected you emerge from the tunnels into the clear waters of lake Tala. After what has felt like an eternity underground you have emerged relatively unscathed from the city. Shielding your eyes from the morning sun you drift slowly out into the lake and take in your surroundings. Behind you lies only a sliver of a gap in the otherwise solid rock you only moments ago emerged from - no doubt another of One Eyes illusions. The lake side appears empty of all life both intelligent or otherwise and out beyond that lie many of the farms that helped provide the city with it's sustenance. Over the ridge of rocks behind you dark clouds rise up and darken the air, a stark contrast to an otherwise clear sky. Whatever happened in Amarath you assume is now over - one way or the other.

Guiding your boats to the shore line you disembark and make a short dash for the cover of nearby foliage. Though you have no reason to suspect you are being watched there is also no reason to be reckless. Now out of immediate danger you take a moment to ponder your futures and where the path will lead from here.
