@Garren: If we only lynched for information nothing would ever happen. Lynching you might not give us information as to who else is scum, but that isn't really a good defense.

Nor did I intend it to be. I've learned the hard way there is no real defense against a lynch; if a group of people want you dead you will die regardless of anything you can come up with so why fight it (unless doing so is fun?) On the upside I'm not too worried - no one really seems to be considering using this actual lynch material anyway. Or if they are they're being pretty quiet about it.

You're actually just wrong. There is a defense against a lynch, and normally it only happens by fighting it and uncovering a better candidate, or by discounting the cases against you. To claim that there isn't a defense against a lynch is just silly. While it might not be incredibly likely to dodge a lynch, it does happen, but it only happens with competing wagons, so it's somewhat determined by the potential candidates.

I get that you're not the best of players, but you can't just claim that it's just a crapshoot that you have no control over and expect it to be true.

The two underlined bits are pretty important. You just said it yourself; I'm not the best player so as far as I'm concerned their is no defense. I know my limits - I'll never be able to adequately defend myself from a lynch so I just try to avoid getting into that position in the first place. Honestly the fact you guys still let me play is either heartwarming or just plain cruel. I'm not sure which.

There aren't really limits to skill in games like, this, nor are there really limits to skill for magic. If you don't try you can't get better and you'll always see it as fated. Well, it doesn't work like that. You're going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy if you don't try to break it.

I'm really limited with my ability to post much on weekends. Especially during the day.

I've got no response to that. It's a pretty argument and all but no sure what you want me to say. That I'll try harder? Already on that. Took two days before I went off the deep end this time - and that only happened because we've had like an entire days worth of dead air to fill.

HW stares, stunned, at the other intervals. "come on, guys! listen to me! I sound lovely!"

"so?" Rubik replies, "that doesn't mean you're not augmented."

"yeah!" agrees MoD, "we know all about enharmonics. you can't fool us!"

"but I'm not augmented!" cries HW, "I'm not!"

Ambar shakes their head. "there's only one way to be sure. really sure."

"but..." HW tries to argue as they begin to fade, "but..."

"we've made our decision." Lilan states, turning away as HW claws desperately at the air. "there's no going back now."

and with that, night falls, ringing with the sound of La, Consonance-Aligned Major Sixth, played by HW.

the following post is written while a bit intoxicated so expect less coherent flavor than you may have grown accustomed to.

the sun rises over Music Heaven. the assembled composers stare in shock at the keyboard.

"but..." murmurs Beethoven.

"but..." whispers Chopin.

"but..." wails Guillaume de Machaut.

but there is no helping it. no one will fess up, but the deed has been done.



in the bizarre world of music theory, we see 8 remaining intervals gather.

"where is numbers?" asks Garren.

"of all the intervals," murmurs Freddeh, "it had to be them?"

"they sounded really good," Rubik adds. "this is unacceptable."

MoD nods. "all we can do now is find out who did it and stop them before it happens again."

"let's hope," shrugs Confused, "that we can find them in time."

and with that the assembled intervals buckle down to the task of finding the traitors in their ranks. there is no time to mourn the passing of Re, Consonance-Aligned Major Second, played by Numbers. there is only time to save themselves.



PS: deadline in 10 days, prods in 48 hours.

I'll plan on doing a re-read for the remaining players and post some thoughts later today or tomorrow.

Thanks for the vote summary. Not sure how helpful it's going to be but at this point its better then nothing. I'd love to give you more on the candidates you've outlined but at this point I think I'm going to have to go back and re-read a lot. I can't remember a single thing Confused and Rubik have said this entire game. MoD just keeps on coming up again and again for me. At the moment he's where I'd throw my vote but I'll be damned if I'm going to throw a vote down just yet.

It's also not that early into Day 3. I went to bed around when razor started Day and have just had access to comp now. Will post soon.

Can I just assume that all 3 scum are within lilan, rubik, confused, and MoD, and we just start lynching from there?

Because I have literally zero reason to believe otherwise, and lynching ambar now is far too dangerous even if he is potentially scum. He needed to die yesterday, but now I have to assume hes scum, at least until the next two are dead.

Finally did a reread, I'm too lazy to actually quote stuff (and this forum is sketchy for me too sometimes) but anyway

Rubik is scum or I'll eat my hat, he was on both town lynches if you assume Ambar is town, he's been very lurky the last bit, his posts when he was posting was very sketchy in that he was both buddying up to Lilan a bit too much (and sneakily enough to be suspicious) and brought up really weak cases.

Confused has been kinda meh all game, which makes it hard to read him, and while I'd like to think that that leans towards scum, its...hard to confirm that.

Lilan...I still can't tell if its typical rag playing bad or scum rag being scummy. He's been kinda lurky since mid day 2 though.

MoD is also probably scum, based on how bad some of his posts are and that hes pushed lynches based off of meh evidence.

For the other 3...Garren I can't read at all really, might be scum but has decent scumhunting, PoPa seems town, probably, and Ambar I have to assume is town based off of the day 1 lynch. He could be scum but for now I'm acting on the town assumption.

So I've been tossing something around and decided we may as well give it a try here. I'd like to propose a mass claim. This has the potential to be our last day so I no longer see the reason to hide anything - if we don't lynch scum today we have lost. I'm not sure what information this may dredge up but at this point we need everything we can get our hands on.

I shall begin. I am Me, Consonance-Aligned Minor Third. I am part of a neighborhood with Le, who is played by Freddeh. I am currently awaiting razorborne's approval as to whether or not I can simply copy the neighbor thread here. If I can't I shall provide a written summary for anyone who is interested.

For those paying attention that does indeed mean we have two neighborhoods in this game. If we were to outguess the mod I would presume then that either myself, Freddeh or Confused are scum. I have no hard evidence to back this claim up but two separate neighborhoods populated by four town seems suspect. Take from that what you will.

For the record Freddeh has said nothing in the neighborhood chat which would cause me to suspect them of being scum but has, likewise, said nothing that would exonerate them either. I currently lean tentatively town on them.

If anyone has anything to share I ask them to please do so. I reiterate from before; we can not afford to screw up today.
