The Eladrin wizard considered the door for a few seconds more, "...The door... If it is a handle, hard to open it without standing perilously over the pit, if a ring could hook it with a halberd and try to swing it open... and hope it isn't trapped... So many variables to consider... And that isn't to consider how to cross without a chance of falling in again. Bah!"
He took walk back to the other end of the hall taking a spot next to Quinn, "See anything? Another passage?"
Thibor continues his slow and tedious advance. He feels no need to hurry. He wants to return to his wife and kids as soon as possible, but his family genealogy is something much more important. It affects him and his whole clan, the Hard Rock clan. He and his family won't need to bear this shame anymore if he succeed on this mission.

You walk up next to Quinn and start inspecting your new surroundings. The fog arch, the green devil face, the intricate murals that still adorn this part of the hall. This part of the plaster murals on the wall depict a myriad of chests on the West wall, some open with piles of treasure, others open but completely empty, one is open and filled with humanoid bones, and at least three or four are just closed. The East wall, on the other hand, shows swarms of spiders running over the body of a sleeping elf (most peculiar because elves don't sleep, they enter a trance). You speak your question to your neighbouring ally ("See anything? Another passage?") as you kneel to look more closely at the floor. As he begins to speak his response ("Perhaps...") he takes a step towards the fog archway to inspect it further. It's as he does this that you notice the contour of the obviously trapped weak floor tiles that fill the ten by ten floorspace that you both occupy. Of course, Quinn triggers the trap by stepping forward...
Using your quick reflexes, you grab hold of Quinn's arm and leap backwards out of the way. The floor collapses and you're left just barely out of harm's way, prone on the groung hanging onto Quinn's arm for dear life as he dangles above the poison spikes below.
Thibor
Your slow, but meticulous process is certainly proving effective. You arrive at the end of your latest few steps forward having found no new traps, but at least you are also yet to have taken a fall onto poisoned spikes. Just then, some comotion goes on up ahead as Quinn takes a fall...
"See anything? Another passage?"Jiardem asks Quinn as he inspects the area."Perhaps..."Quinn replies, as he takes a step forward to have a closer look at the fog archway. No sooner does he do so than does the floor cave out from under him! Using his quick reflexes, Jiardem leaps back out of harms way, reaching out to grab Quinn's arm just in time to save him from a spiky fate below. As Quinn dangles above the spikes, his eyes lock on them and he notices something peculiar...
"Guys!" he calls out, "I think I've spotted a secret door hidden at the bottom of this pit!"
Wait for me, Quinn! I am coming to your rescue. Thibor says before resuming his tedious advance, always hitting the hammer at the floor, waiting a few seconds to listen for a hollow sound before moving. A minute later he reaches Quinn to help.

Despite Jiardem's bumbling arms that almost get in the way, Quinn does indeed manage to pull himself up and out of the pit. "Thanks, friend. I could have been impaled on those had it not been for you."

Graydon, seeing Quinn fall, rushes over, careful to only trod on the squares Thibor has walked over. He peers down at the secret door, circumnavigating the pit to take a closer look. He gathers up the slack that's been dragging behind Thibor, and seems like he's ready to use it.

So, first off, Graydon has a rope that's tied around himself and Thibor, and he's been following 10 feet behind Thibor with a readied action to save him if he falls.
Graydon moves to N31 and rolls a perception check to see how difficult it would be to reach the secret door without falling onto the spikes. Also, he would want to see how far down the spikes are, as he can jump 20 feet without being injured due to his magic items.

You barely spot the secret door Quinn is referring to, but sure enough there is a faint outline of a small door-shaped crack in the stone wall at the base of the pit. The pit itself is only ten feet deep, and the spikes protrude by about a foot off the group. Jumping, even with magical assistance, would be foolhardy because you would undoubtedly land on the spikes (which all ooze with the same oily sheen of the previously poisoned spikes). However, you could fairly easily climb down (DC 5 athletics) and there is enough space between the spikes themselves that you could stand at the base of the pit without being impaled.
As you stand there peering into the pit you begin to get an eerie feeling standing this close to the green devil face. Glancing over your shoulder to see it, the two torch sconces--previously unlit--suddenly light themselves aflame giving you a better look at the thing. It's mouth is open quite wide...wide enough in fact that you could probably fit inside...and you feel like it is looking at you.
Green Devil Face
As Graydon runs around the pit to get a better look at the secret door Quinn spoke of, something strange happens. The two torch sconces that flank the Green Devil Face--previously unlit and unnoticeable--suddenly light themselves aflame giving you a better look at the thing. It is undoubtedly an evil-appearing devil face set in mosaic at the end of the hall. It's mouth hangs open quite wide in an O shape...wide enough in fact that a medium creature could probably fit inside. Anyone who looks at it gets the eerie feeling that it is looking back at them.

Jiardem was about to speak when the devil face opened. His mouth was agape for a few seconds before saying, "Correlon Larethian's star..." He raised his right hand and began chanting softly hoping to catch just a hint of magic from it.

You detect a huge aura of magic coming from the thing. Blinding amounts of magic. More magic than you know what to do with. All coming from the great green devil face. Mostly, from inside its mouth.
"Another path. Now we have at least three paths to follow. This secret door inside the pit, the mouth of this statue, and the bend at this corridor. I feel that the door's image at the beginning can be a secret door too. Remember the illusory wall from before, we cannot trust our eyes here. Nothing like Acererak's diabolic humor to hide a door as a door. Humm... Let's see what it is at this bend of the corridor."

You find no evidence of traps and manage to get right up to the fog gate. The closer you get to the green devil face the creepier the feeling of being watched gets. Taking a closer look at the gaping maw doesn't ease the feeling any. Approaching the archway you are able to observe that the fog is not actually fog at all, but rather a very thick veil of mist that completely obscures all sight of the path beyond. The vapor swirls quite unnaturally in intricate circular patterns. You can't make out anything past it. However when you step within a foot of the archway, something peculiar happens...
Thibor carefully walks up to the fog archway. When he steps within a foot of the archway, three of the larger stones that make up the arch begin to glow bright colours. The bottom left stone glows brightly YELLOW, the top centre shows BLUE, and the bottom right is ORANGE.

Jiardem shakes his head as his vision returns to normal, though his eyes still have dots in them as someone looking straight into a bright light or even the sun. "This devil face is brimming with energy. I've seen very few things that have close to this much energy weaved into it. I'd say it still has possibility to do... Well, something. I could go into the details, but I'd have so many possible scenarios I could throw out that it would be quite frightening. I say check the pit door first, but..."

Quinn walks up next to Thibor to inspect the misty archway more closely. "Fascinating. The coloured stones seemed to respond to you approaching it. I think it likes you, Thibor. I wonder..."
His curiosity winning the battle over his common sense, Quinn decides to have a peek as to what lies behind the misty wall. The would-be-Bard takes a bold step through the thick mist and fades from view.
As he lay in the pit, Henleber attempted to carry out his most important task of this day: Not going mad. He carefully double checked every item of equipment, scratched another mark on the wall to show how many days this had lasted, and prepared for his daily attempt to leave. By this time, he knew there was no way out, but accepting that would probably drive him mad and for the thousandth time he made a list of all the possible equipment that might have let him get out.
He looked up for a moment as he finished since he thought he heard a faint sound outside. He listened but if there was anything it was too faint and the last year of listening had often caused him to hallucinate such things. At this point, he slumped down in the corner and tugged at the cursed cloak. He was somewhat glad that it kept him alive but had a bad feeling that there would be a price to pay eventually.

Graydon looks at all the activity happening around him, then at the pit door at his feet. He shrugs, silently slipping down into the pit, and opens the door.

NOOOOOO! Quinn! You half-fairy softhead. What have you done! Thibor cries with anguish when Quinn steps inside the portal. Then, after some seconds of despair and apprehension he cautiously approaches the portal to study it better and know what could have happened to Quinn.

"I certainly- What?!" Jiardem says as he gets distracted by the way Thibor decides to word his expression of panic. "No, no, no, definitely not! I will not bother to define why the fairy thing is wrong on so many levels. I will not ask him if he has had his dose of pixie dust today. I will not ask him if he has seen them frolicking without a care of their state of dress or lack of... I wonder if they truely do have a sense of modesty? ...Where was I? Oh yes Quinn. Can you hear us in here?"
He starts a simple chant trying to form a yellow hand in front of him.
